⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Nothing but the BEST! I’ve trained in martial arts for over 30 years, earned black belts in two different fighting systems, and spent over 20 years in the US army where I headed up my unit’s hand to hand combative program. I purchased literally every training video on professor David’s website over 15 years ago and began training his reality based selfdefense system. I was blown away with how much better it improved my ability to quickly and more effectively train others how to stay safe and effectively respond to violence on the streets, on the job or even in hostile combat environments. In my humble opinion, Professor David has always been among the BEST if not THE BEST in the business when it comes to teaching what will really bring you home safe if and when true violence finds you. Much Respect Professor David 🙏🏾👊🏾

Great post! We only know, what WE know. Your experience is what you learned for your situations. I saw it in Marines, at karate tournaments, etc. Dr David’s stuff is spot on. I am of slight build, and strength. So I was picked on my whole life. A different perspective with those gifts. :). Thank you for your post. I learned the hard way, but I learned. No scars!

This is a no nonsense approach a lot of self-defense teachers avoid. Too many "experts" focus on the flashy. The street has only one rule: If someone chooses to attack you... do what works. You walk away and they don't. Great video. Great teaching.

What you're explaining and demonstrating here is exactly what I have been trying to explain to many, many mma people. I spent the majority of my life in the military, I've practiced bjj, and boxing. There is a definite difference between self defense and combat sports. There are some evil, evil people out there, and they will hurt you if you don't prepare correctly.

people do shell up and they have to move and let their hands go and practice - reps make a big difference and sparring with different people - sometimes you get jumped by multiple people - running can be an option but you may have to fight your way out just to have that option

Thank you for having the courage to tell the truth when it comes to combat and protecting yourself. I have recommended your videos, especially to learn the mindset of a fighter and what is self-defense. It’s a mean and violent world we stay in and if you’re not a prepare to face those challenges you could lose your life. That’s real.

Right on .. that was solid ... Best defence not be there...as you we're saying that's the best mindset you can have....it's like if someone tossed you something you don't think about it, your hands go up .. don't worry about where are what position your feet is in ... you just empty your miñd ..and strike accordingly...

I kinda wanna make sure that the Icy one sees this 😂 Also just saying the average leg length of a 6' tall person (male and female) is over 3' by between 3 and 5 inches..so with proper technique and basic form a soccer player could kick you while you are in what you have called "The 3' rule" range that I guess means you think you're safe from attack 😅 I am only at 7:27 in the video so.. Imma find out..but wow... I also gotta say that to me because of my training in Taekwondo, Muay Thai, and even just my kick boxing training tells me y'all could both hit each other with a number of kicks at that range...I for sure could I am 6'3" and have trained in some of the most kick heavy material arts with my goal being to be able to keep opponents at exactly that range to kick people at my leisure and pleasure 🤣 ..also just as a striker in general I could probably cross that gap with ease so to in my opinion it is absurd to make a rule about striking distance that is 3'... Anything less than 2 arms length so between 4.5-5' and 6' minimum to think you are "safe-ish" from getting a fist 🤜🏾 or foot 🦶🏾 in the face... Even at about 15' away from most people I am confident I could kick them...from a stand still ...but that is cause I have practiced to be able to go from compromised positions such as sitting in a chair, or laying on the ground on my stomach on my back to even restriction of my hands to tied in front of be hind me...and I can go about 7-17' in any direction around my body and strike a target (the 10' discrepancy depends on what position I am in and what direction I am traveling relative to it) my training like this is something I have done as I wake or just before laying down for rest or as I am rising from a meditation or getting out of a vehicle or for that matter over objects like chairs and tables any number of numerous random places that I deem make sense. I am an absolutely rare example of combat training and perspective while also being an absolute specimen when it comes to speed, mind muscle connection, coordination kinesthetic awareness and athleticism.. I can travel about 20' in less than a sec from a stand still and reach that point 20' away kicking (or punching..I just prefer kicking) through the 20' mark by 3-7' depending on the kick I am doing...and before anyone questions the power of the kicks..know this..I practice these on bags..and people..though I never really hit people with these..for good reason..and though it may seem impossible to some I am for sure capable of such feats...and though I am rare the capacity to do almost a 7th of that distance (so 3' incase anyone did not want to do the math) is incredibly average among people who have training in any number of martial arts...people who play soccer, rugby, probably even pitchers and line backers could smash that gap of 3' and get to some one on the other side smashing them... Again 4.5-5' even 6' rule makes way more sense...though my suggestion would be to have a more clear understanding that people can definitely get to you faster than you might assume..and to assume any distance is truly more safe is absurd. I am guessing he is gonna say something about keeping 3' between you and a person who is charging at you with a barrage..in which case it is alright advice if you give someone some tools that they can implement quickly to act upon the opportunity and do something that actually assists them in staying safe in that space of 3' that they are training/ed to maintain ... Idk...I am not tryna hate or slander or disrespect I just have a very different view...I'm gonna finish the vid now.. see what's up 😅🤙🏾

3ft rule has different rules if you get on that close,,, now if you can see what someone's approach is going to be towards you then take em out if you can,, the 3ft rule might only be a conversation,, building into something,,,

I love Professor James's advice on attacking the legs as soon as the 3 foot rule is broken. Coming from a background of Wing Chun I do like low leg attacks as a pre-emptive response to an incoming attack. Self defence and fighting ...as different as chalk and cheese! Subscribed, and I am so happy that I found this channel, all the best for 2024 everybody, cheers from Australia 🙂

I've never trained wanted too but never had the chance but I had to stand my ground my whole life I was raised in a town it's not a city it's a town Jackson TN and I didn't know anyone so I had no friends no one for help when there's over ten guys wanting to jump me but I stood it the best I could so at this age I don't put myself in position or places like that anymore, but now we are dealing with young people that don't know anything about boundaries, boundaries saves lives , the 3 foot rule is a boundary line that will save your life in the street and in the legal system how ever it goes

Doubt you're gonna pull off any of those things against Tyson. But if you're getting in fights against pro's like that, I'd venture to say that you have a bigger problem than self defence ability - your behaviour and your mind.

I just finished the vid... All of that is alright advice and philosophy with a bit of practicality peppered in...sure this stuff applies the scenarios presented but in a scenario where the person knows good point sparring tactics and has preasure tested them in multiple different training methods with multiple other styles or even just a person who trained in Muay Thai or even judo for years... You might find yourself kicked in the face or landing on your face real hard following this advice religiously like he is preaching in this vid... No disrespect but that advice is shallow and emotionally driven from what I can tell... Thanks for making content that at least has sonte valueable info in it.. but you could for sure increase that value in my opinion 😌🤙🏾
