Very Interesting, I did not know all that. Good information.

Hi Doug! What a surprise! I watched all your Pool table videos. You gave me a very good education on buying a used pool table. I still haven’t run up on one yet that works for me. I’m patient though, that special one will show when I the stars align. I have always loved fine leather made items. So I started watching You Tube leather working videos. I wanted to learn Saddle stitching. So far I’ve learned a great deal from many different people, from all over the world. One day I would like to build a saddle. To me that is the ultimate goal. I am seeing the saddle in my head, which for me is the first phase. I’m a visual learner. If I can dream it up, seeing it as if remembering one I actually saw. That makes it possible for me to bring it forward, drawing it into the world of touch, from the world of thought. So I bought a $100 Awl from Rocky Mountain leather supply. And I’m learning how to saddle stitch with it. I’ve done one gun holster. I tooled it, stained it, and stitched it. Down to the toe plug. Next I do the belt. I’m just copying the one that’s on the cover of the book packing Iron. Last night I bought a Alligator Hyde from American Tanning LLC, ( the Gator Queen). They hade one of the color I wanted for making a wallet I wanted to try. My holster and awl are on my Instagram site, #westernccain, or @westernccain. If you care to look and judge my progress. I look forward to watching your leather series.

Very nice from what I can see. Would like to see a full photo of it though!

This was great! Bought a florentine leather bag from Dooney and Bourke and it was said they were dyed with fruits nuts and berries, which I suppose would be vegetable tanning, in Florence Italy. So I was curious about the process.

Thanks, very informative! I'm looking forward to a part two. Just a note, though: please keep background music much quieter, as the narration is hard to pick up for a foreigner and/or hearing impaired.
