Really? You can be a fruitorian in maharlika. People wish to be healthy but not knowing the history of plants too. All the veggies mention on these video is hybrid. Actually better than meat but carrot gives inflammation. Plants mentions are acidic not alkaline.

Long time follower of your blog. So, glad to see these recipes come to life! I've made this a couple times for my husband, much to his delight (since, while he's not vegan, he does not eat pork or shellfish and couldn't have my mom's version). Since I couldn't find veggie chicharon for the longest time, I've actually used veggie chips and even crushed snow/snap pea crisps at times, which I found to have a similarish texture. Thanks for giving us a way to enjoy Filipino food in a new way. :)

idyllictwilight No problem! I'm here to help. Thanks so much for following my blog, that means alot to me. The use of veggie chips seems like a great idea to replace chicharon :) Would love to see photo of your dish next time :)

Hi Richgail, just found you through the vegan soup collab, and I am so pleased I did! I am crazy for Asian flavour and although vegetarian, I am working on veganism step by step. Your recipes look so delicious and what interests me the most is that they bring a unique perspective, mingling veganism/ health eating (most common on youtube) with the cultural aspect of Philipino culinary. I cannot wait to start trying your recipes (the rice porridge left me mouth watering!). Cheers from London

I'm not vegan, but you're a genius! This answers my dilemma on how to cook Palabok without shrimps (because allergies sucks). Plus, I trust the oldies taste buds. If they loved it, it's definitely delicious. Thank you! Ang ganda pag nagsasalita ka ng Tagalog :D

I used to eat palabok in the old divisoria market in manila. Later on, most restaurants and fast food places sold palabok. Nowadays, I prefer whole grain noodles. Probably hard to veganize the shrimp flavor.

@astigvegan9 жыл бұрын
Hi! You could find vegetable broth at major supermarkets like SM and Rustans (if you're in the Philippines). You could also buy one online. I also highly suggest to tell the buyer or purchasing manager of your neighborhood store to carry it. Usually stores won't carry products if there's no demand for it. With your feedback, they might just carry it! Let me know how it goes!

So sorry for the late reply. If you don't have vegetable broth. I suggest using this recipe instead: www.astigvegan.com/how-to-make-vegan-pancit-palabok-2/

i feel if you used veggie burger crumbed instead of the beans and carrots, it would look more like the real palabok. I've never seen a palabok that has carrots and beans in it.

looks good but the sauce looks too watery.Not thick enough like the traditional palabok sauce. But I will have to try this myself and see ;) good job.
@astigvegan9 жыл бұрын
Salamat Jessa. The only difference is the amount of corn starch used. Feel free to add more. Also take note the sauce will get thicker over time. Sometimes too thick! If that happens then reheat with hot water. Hope that helps!
