Whoa, Make It Dairy Free _After Dark._ I've been making seitan for years, and still sometimes come up with Silly Putty instead of seitan. It really is more akin to baking than cooking; you can't just wing it with the ratios and produce something palatable. I'll try your version and see how it goes. TFP!

Vegans are funny. They don't wanna eat chicken. They'll eat something that looks like chicken instead. The craving for chicken is still obvious😄😄
@Fruitlahoop3 ай бұрын
It’s not really rocket science. Chicken taste amazing there’s no denying that claim. Anyone who disagrees is lying to you. Being vegan is about reducing pain and suffering to other beings. Which can only be done by not contributing to eating animals. So hence that’s what “mock” simply means. We love good tasting food that isn’t being tortured or killed for our pleasure, so we replicate it. Life would suck if all I could eat were veggies only.

I attempted to host a vegan BBQ for my friends, and let's just say it was a rollercoaster of culinary creativity. The tofu hot dogs were suspiciously bouncy, and the vegan burgers were like compacted garden soil. But it's the thought that counts, right? Everyone left with full stomachs and a newfound appreciation for traditional BBQ fare. 😄🍔🍗 #VeganBBQChronicles

Yum! I am still hesitant cooking seitan, it’s a tricky thing. I will have to check this out. I’ve never seen anyone steam them, maybe that will help versus what I have been doing in the past. Grilling them is s a great idea too, 🔥 I’m sure that helps with texture. On another note, I also have a channel where I share vegan recipes and sustainability, I’d love for you to check it out. 🥰 Otherwise thanks so much for sharing this recipe, I can’t wait to try my hand at seitan once more! 💚🌱

@Dave_en3 жыл бұрын
Without spices both can be bland, either meat or fake meat (seitan). Seitan gives chewy texture and spices add to the taste. Today I have prepared seitan with chicken curry spices and it tasted wonderful.

I printed out this recipe and. at the top of the page, I wrote: "Yum!" Great taste and easy to make. That's the combination I need to keep going back to a recipe over and over again. I've made this twice so far and it was even better the 2nd time. I confess, I don't make the BBQ sauce because, for now, I'm cutting calories. I use G Hughes (black-owned) Sugar-Free, homemade BBQ Sauce instead. When I make this for company, however, I will certainly follow your sauce recipe 'cause it looks reeealllly good! This (and your "The Best High Protein Vegan Burgers" recipe are staples in my house. In fact, I'm about to make some o' those burgers today! Thank you again for making veganism that much more fun!

@Dave_en3 жыл бұрын
I just wrap the gluten on a chopstick and throw it in simmering water. Once the gluten starts to float on the water, it's cooked and then immersed in ice-cold water. After 5-10 min, the seitan sinks. Then we can store the seitan sticks in deep fridge and start using it from next day onwards.

I don't get it. If one is vegan, why would they want to eat an imitation of chicken or any form of meat???🤮🤷
@MakeItDairyFree3 жыл бұрын
People go vegan for lots of different reasons. Most of the time it's not because they didn't enjoy meat but they want the same flavors, taste and texture without the harm.
@161sun3 жыл бұрын
@@MakeItDairyFree okay, I hear you. Was just thinking of myself, when I don't eat a certain food, I don't want any taste similar to that of what I dont eat.

@@161sun I'm lacto vegetarian since I was born. I too enjoy seitan and would never like to taste the real meat due to the fact that obtaining meat involves cruelty to animals. My wife is non vegetarian and I asked her to compare meat with seitan and she told that seitan can never resemble real meat in taste though she likes seitan in various forms. I agree with her as meat has distinct and smell of flesh that only vegans or vegetarians can detect and get repulsed.
@noneya12384 ай бұрын
@@161sunIt's not the taste we didn't like, it's because it's either we don't like the treatment of animals, pollution or because of how unhealthy meat is and how the US process their meat. What kinda question is that?
