You said Gotenks is plausible as a SSJ3 cause he’s watched Goku do it, so why doesn’t that same logic apply to Vegeta who’s not only seen it done multiple times but shared a body with Goku. A year is a long time for him to especially since he knows what the form is and what it requires and the strain it puts on your body. And I think it makes sense Vegeta doesn’t use the form typically if he doesn’t like the drawbacks. It’s said to be a huge energy drain so maybe Vegeta just prefers to go the distance and doesn’t want to sacrifice power for stamina but that’s changed now that he’s a kid.

Still makes no sense. By that logic why did he even bothered using SSJ2 as well? SSJ3 is stronger than 2, Goku lost to Beerus due to lack of power, not due to stamina issues. There are zero reasons for Vegeta not to use SSJ3 if he had it at the time. By that logic he might as well fight in base form. The reason is simple. When writing it and the rest of Super, Toriyama had Vegeta as he was at the end of Buu saga, meaning his top was SSJ2 and progressed from there to the God forms. When making Daima he wanted to throw a twist with a new form but since Daima is set after Buu the only option was SSJ3 which he did, but as always Toriyama forgot™ what he wrote before just like how he forgot his own rules in RoF and we are left with another plot hole. But as always, the DB fanbase is trying to explain it like it was some sort of smart story telling when it is another moment that was done without thinking on what was already done before leaving us with another plot hole.

my current head canon is that when vegeta died and was briefly in other world, he felt the change in his body and had a revelation on how to obtain SSJ3, and then a year later of training and focusing on attaining the form, he got it.

Each of these saiyans get their own genetic traits, Broly using his ozaru without ape form, Goku naturally leaning on angel forms, vice versa Vegeta, Gohan's hella potential from his genes being mixed with human, its simple math, Vegeta has always had his royal genes to obtain these forms in less time than Goku, albeit he was training harder not smarter

Bro, Baby was still in a SSJ2 form not SSJ3. That long curved hair and loss of Vegeta's eye brows was because of Baby's biological mutation advancing inside Vegeta's body. It was just a coincidence he looked like a SSJ3. Look at Baby's original form and compare it with Baby Vegeta. The eye bows were replaced with that red banding.

The way I see it, this is the first time Vegeta is using Super Saiyan 3 against an actual opponent. From what Bulma said, all he’s done is train. Vegeta is always miserable, but he looked particularly miserable during this fight. I think there’s a possibility he just realized it’s not suited for battle. As for how Vegeta got the form so soon after Buu’s defeat, ya gotta think about it, it’s a common trope in this series that once a character experiences a certain level of power, characters adapt and grow more quickly. Not just the Saiyans, the many non Saiyan characters have this perk. So Vegeta getting this form 6-18 months after the Buu Saga, it makes sense. He’s felt it. It’s how Gotenks got it, it’s how Caulifla will eventually get it. All that being said, Goku should know by now that it’s a flawed form, the only reason he used it against Beerus was the writers showing the fans Goku at his peak can’t touch him. I hate that. I think Goku shouldn’t have used it against Beerus, but the writers. 😏

These fan videos using head canon as to why ssj3 needs to be protected from one character doing it that has shown that he could get a god form without a ritual (a form that clearly exceeds super saiyan 3 in every possible way). I never really believed Saiyan 3 was useless. Yes, it might have had its cons, but it also had its pros that made it worth it. You just need to be trained in it right and for a long period of time to nummfy the drawbacks alot better more so that the transformation can be more stable and useful. Ssj3 is a specific transformation that requires a specific type of concentration to tap into no emotions required, ssj 1 and 2 on the other hand have rage boost traits,meaning theoretically you could even surpass ssj3 with ssj 2 if you're angry enough, however after tapping into ssj3 you may still use rage to increase the forms power but no rage is required to become ssj 3.....vegeta against beerus maxed out at ssj 2 because his concentration had missed the ssj3 window during his rage

It's ssj 3, based on the OG concept. If you really want to stretch it, maybe its a 75% ssj3 form where vegeta stopped the full transition to increase his power while negating the heavy stamina drain. However, he ended his fight with Tamagami no.2 quick, that tells me it is true ssj 3 with the stamina drain. Vegeta did what goku should have done to kid buu.

Actually, that would make a lot of sense. But I prefer the theory that with fusion comes new abilities. Prime examples of Gogeta and Vegito using abilities that neither Goku or Vegeta possesses. It's like 1 scientist can't build a prototype of a specific invention, but 2 scientists can.
