I am fairly aware of DBZ, I raised my son in it but I really took no notice of it other than being a good mom and knowing her sons’s favorite characters for gifts and such 😂 Thanx to SSJ9K I have a renewed interest in the series. The instinct and ego are the two main parts of the brain, instinct is stuff you feel or do without even thinking about it and the ego is the part of you that is… well, you. Your emotions, your thoughts, everything that you yourself control. So ultra instinct is making yourself disappear and letting your body fight on its own without interference, while ultra ego is completely accepting certain emotions like rage and passion to fuel your power. It’s ironically not an egotistical thing, it’s an acceptance thing.

the name 'ultra ego' ties into psychology. someone layered the mind in three: the id (instinct), the ego (who you are subconciously), and the super ego (who you want to become, conciously). there was a youtube, i forget who, that theorized that we're gona have goku with the ultra instinct, vegeta with the ultra ego, and someone who's always trying to become better on all levels (theorized to be gohan, if he regains his relevancy. gohan did say that he wanted to pursue a new neverbefore scene separate from goku and vegeta) so goku's power is just 'maximum chill' vegeta's power is 'im gona indulge in what i love (battle and destruction)' and the 3rd person is gona be someone pursuing self improvement or something like that.
