The first time I saw Vegeta as a Super Saiyan was during the moment Piccolo was fighting with Android 20 in the next episode since I had fallen asleep during this one after a day of school. I was six or seven years old and my brothers didn't wake me up to see the episode because I was so tired. However when I woke up, I noticed a guy with Super Saiyan hair with his arms crossed by Piccolo as he was fighting against Android 20 and I remember asking, "Who is that?" When they told me, I was like, "Really?! Well why is Piccolo fighting #20 let's see Vegeta!" Of course, I didn't realize that #19 was dead until later. Great times.
