Grape leaves have been used for cooking. Wrap seasoned rice, ground meats and onion, garlic, like stuffed cabbage.
@GoldenBoy-et6of
@GoldenBoy-et6of Жыл бұрын
Whatever you put in the grape leaf needs to be already mostly cooked like a wonton! The reason is cause the grape leaves cook extremely fast so you make the filling and you have the leaves layed out than you put the cooked steaming hot filling into the leaves and fold it so it naturally stays folded around the filling like a envelope and you do that quickly with all of them than you heat up some oil and fry them for just about 30 seconds cause they start becoming rubbery if you cook them to long! Jewish people commonly cook stuff in grape leaves and their super picky about how long the leaves are cooked!

Red Raspberry leaves are not only edible but can be used by pregnant women to help insure and easy pregnancy and childbirth. The famous Dr. John Christopher was a big advocate of using them for this purpose. Also the leaves of a Rose of Sharon tree are edible as are Pomegranate tree leaves.

Eh i dont know about that. If your not sure dont eat it until you are better informed from an expert. Plants can be deadly. Mind you this is more true with foraging but wise in general with potential foods. The LD50 isnt always observable in 1 serving but can build up in your systems.

Plants grow, store energy, then use that energy to reproduce somehow. Plants don't want to be picked/messed with usually, they have compounds in them that discourage picking/eating/harming them at different stages of their life (this is almost always different in each plant). Sometimes they have psysical deterrants discouraging human/animal/insect from obtaining the energy source (tubers, flowers/buds, or nutritious leaves) they've stored (think of thorny roses or the stinging nettle). However some have fruits that are "encouraged" to be picked and spread their seed (think true apples). It's important to distinguish between these type of plants and adapt our ways of harvesting, processing/preserving, and consuming. Some plants one shouldn't ever eat raw but are ok if, for example, fermented and some plants (not many IMO or in strict moderation) are fine raw. It's very important to pay attention to ones body and how it reacts to all foods wild and domesticated. Fire is good there's a reason humanity has taken off since we found out how to make and harness it. Create and preserve easy to digest food so our bodies can focus on thinking instead of digesting (digestion takes A LOT of energy if it's done incorrectly). We're not cows, God bless 😁
