I recently bought Eat Smart by Niomi Smart and was inspired to go grocery shopping and cook a new plant-based recipe!

Do you have any book recommendations for people looking to move towards a meatless diet? I want to check out this cookbook, but I also am interested in reading about how to make sure your diet is balanced and healthy without meat.

I will have to check out the Eat Smart cookbook. What was the other cookbook you mentioned? I am trying to go vegetarian and eventually vegan. It is kind of hard to find things that are vegetarian in a small town in Oklahoma. I am hoping that if I can find some cookbooks and recipes I like it will be easier. So, if you have any tips for transiting to vegetarian I would love to hear it.

The other plant-based cookbook I mentioned is called Thug Kitchen: Eat Like You Give A Fuck. It's hilariously written and the recipes are so yummy. You don't even realize it's vegan! Transitioning to vegetarian wasn't too hard for me, because I rarely made meat/fish at home anyway. My big tip is when going out to dinner, look at the menu beforehand. Don't be shy to ask for meat to be removed. For example, when ordering a cobb salad, I tell them to hold the bacon and any other meat that may have come with the salad. Make sure you don't just cut out meat and not substitute with other plant-based proteins. I recommend experimenting with cooking tofu and tempeh. You can't go wrong with cooking them in sesame oil and soy sauce. Yum yum! Plus, veggie burgers are your friends if you are a burger person. Beware, not all veggie burgers taste the same. I love black bean burgers and whatever the heck Islands burgers uses as their veggie burger. Also, if you do eat a lot a meat/fish regularly, just start by going meatless one day of the week. Take it slow. And make sure you know the reasons why you are going vegetarian. I hope this helps. Best of luck!

I will have to get Thug Kitchen for sure! It sounds awesome! I don't eat a lot of meat myself, but I do have to cook it everyday for my boyfriend. He can't take over cooking it because he is color blind and with ground beef for example the color looks the same before and after I brown it in the skillet. It is not a huge deal for me though. I have been replacing a lot of the meat in the meals I make with beans, black beans in particular is a favorite of mine. Before I add the meat to the dish I take out my portion of the meal and add the beans to mine. We don't tend to eat out much, but when we do I have already been asking for them to remove the meat. I recently discovered that if you order Taco Bell on the app you can change any of the meat to black beans or re fried beans. The main reasons I am making this change is that I cannot stand the texture of meat, particularly ground beef, also I want to be healthier and I think it is not really right to eat animals if we don't have to. Thanks! Your tips helped a lot, I have been wanting to try tofu but I didn't really know where to start. I hope you continue to do food vlogs like this, I really like them.

SEA SALT CARAMEL HALO TOP!?! What?! I am so excited for you but so sad for myself because they only sell the boring flavours here and it's $12 a pint!

Oh no! Hopefully soon you will have access to the sea salt caramel flavor and that someone gifts it to you so you don't have to pay that outrageous amount. It's SO GOOD!!!
