Veggie Tales All The Shows Volumes 1-3 DVD Collection Review and Comparison

The Veggie Tales: All The Shows collections were reissued with new packaging in March 2015. In this video, I compare these new sets with the old ones. Overall, I think the new reissued sets are quite nice and the price drop is much appreciated, though with that price drop, there are a few things lost from the original releases. First off, only 5 discs instead of 10, and these 5 discs are double sided (more easy to get scratched). We are also missing from each collection a nice little history of Veggie Tales page, which would have been a nice paper insert. There is one artwork oddity with the first volume, in that the older collection featured Larry with a boot on his head on the front cover (The Story of Flibber-O-Loo), but the new one has Larry wearing a bunny hat (Rack, Shack & Benny). I'm not sure why they changed that. I didn't even notice it until after I recorded this video. I also noticed that the second volume actually has 6 discs instead of 5. Why? Because Lyle the Kindly Viking and The Star of Christmas are on their own DVDs, whereas the other discs all have two episodes per disc (double-sided). It's interesting that even though Lyle the Kindly Viking and The Star of Christmas are by themselves on their own DVDs, the discs look like they should be double sided. In fact, the other sides of those discs do not have any content on them. I'm wondering if maybe this is some sort of a production error, but I'm really not sure. There might be a very good reason for it that I haven't figured out. Overall though, these reissues are nice especially given the price drop and I would recommend these to anyone who is looking to start a Veggie Tales DVD collection.

Those DVDs should need a new repackage with the same discs with the art from the old version instead of double sided discs because the discs can get scratched on the flippers when there on top. Plus it should have the history list so we can what tale we should see.

I actually figured out why Lyle and Star of Christmas are on their own DVDs that look double-sided, but aren't really. It's because Lyle is a DVD-9 (double-layered) disc -- it's the version with the extra 3-2-1 Penguins episode on it. All the other titles are DVD-5 (single-layered).

I was born in 1997, so I grew up in the early to mid-2000s watching VeggieTales, so I have a lot of VHS tapes, but only 3 DVDs; The Star of Christmas (2002), Lord of the Beans (2005), and God Made You Special (2007) {includes Dave and the Giant Pickle, Bob's Vacation, and The Gourds Must be Crazy}. I don't like double-sided discs either. It's impossible to tell what on which side. I mean, does the printing say "what's printed on this side is on here" or "just like a single layer disc, what's printed on this side is what's on the other side". It's just so confusing.

the reason the lord of the beans, NOR the wonder wizard of ha's isnt on here is because the movies were too close to the original movies, so they had to make a deal saying that they couldnt put them with any collections

While random vegetable stories will be coloured purple and has Nicholas, Petunia as Marlee Meade and Laura as princess poppyseed on the top area and Sara Crewe, Junior as ricochet and Bob as mayor Humpty Dumpty on the bottom area and will include the pirates who don’t do anything movie, Saint Nicholas, twas the night before Easter, princess and the popstar, the penniless princess, the league of incredible vegetables and the little house that stood. The ones that I have mentioned are all my favourite from Veggietales and the only ones that I like watching now, also my favourite show along with Max & Ruby (just seasons 1 to 5), the Backyardigans, my little pony friendship is magic, the Big Bang theory and the penguins of Madagascar.

I have a question. Does it include the silly songs that originally come with each episode? I saw these and I absolutely want to buy them but I just had that question. (Ex. Hairbrush song, Barbara manatee, ceboo? Thanks for the detailed comparison.

celesluvsu Yes, it comes with all silly songs. The content on these discs is identical to the content on individual DVD releases.

I Have A Question, I Really Want To Buy The Old Copy, Because I Hate The New Copy, But I Can't Find It Anywhere. I Found That Some Of The Online Items Have The Image Of The Original Release, But Idk If They Are True Because In The Description, It Will Say "5-Disc Collection", and Sometimes, The Seller Just Gets A Google Image; Example: I Bought A 2-Disc Jonah: A Veggietales Movie, But I Got The 1-Disc Copy, So Sometimes The Image Isnt The Real Thing. Can You Please Help Me Find An Older Release Copy?

the reason the lord of the beans, the wizard of ha's AND its a meaningful life are not included with collections is because the films were too similar to the original movies so the companies who made lord of the rings, its a wonderful life, and the wizard of oz made big idea not include those with the veggietales collections or they would have to erase the 3 veggietales films.
