I made my first batch today and it was really good. I used tomate paste instead of tomato sauce. I had to add additional vegetable stock due to the thickness. I also add a little more spices, because I love spicy food. I didn’t have whole thyme so I use the powder instead and I put it in the oil with the garlic and added red and yellow peppers. I ate it with fresh mash potato and sautéed mushrooms and onions. I truly enjoyed it. I gave my husband a taste and he like the flavor. I steamed my steaks in my instant pot. It did the job. I made 3 steaks and put 6 in the freezer for later. Thank you and blessings to you and your family!

I made this for the first time as dinner tonight and it was blazing! I used veggie stock and I noticed that my seitan was darker, which was great because it looked just like steak! I made the mac and cheese that you created, minus the breadcrumb topping and some mashed potatoes to go along with it and OMG, this whole meal was impeccable! I finished my plate in less than 15min. The texture was perfect! I kept thinking, "damn this is vegan?!" As a new vegan (7 mos), I thoroughly enjoyed this, Rose, thank you! I didn't have a steamer so I filled a large skillet with an inch of water, balled up three pieces of aluminum foil, put my seitan on a heat-friendly glass plate for 45 mins on medium to medium high heat, covered it with another plate, and it was gucci!

Yes indeed, I was in the mood for a comfort meal. I got so caught up making the mac and cheese, along with the potatoes, I bypassed broccoli by mistake. There's plenty in my fridge so I can try again later...yup, definitely going to eat again. How long do you typically thaw the seitan after it's frozen? I cut them up into little pieces and placed them in one bag, along with another frozen seitan patty in the other. Any tips?
@VeggieRoseOfficial6 жыл бұрын
That sounds good! You can just boil the frozen pieces for 1 hour...you can even throw the cooked pieces into the food processor and pulse it to make vegan ground meat😉

Blended the spices and beans and stock and added a bit more broth then put them into bowl with vital gluten. Also used maple syrup, no guava in my house for marinade with a small amount of liquid smoke. Making it again to put into freezer when I need quickly already steamed. Thanks.

Hi, I just started the vegan trail, so this is the first time making anything. As I speak my vegan stakes are steaming. I don't own a steamer so I had to be creative with that. One thing I had smoke paprika,so I don't know what difference that's going to make. I'm very excited. I stopped eating meat in January, in May I started my vegan journey, just eating vegetables and lost 12 pounds .
@my2cents494 жыл бұрын
Hi, I have a tip to add... I discovered that by combining hickory seasoning, paprika, a bit of salt, sugar, and black pepper you can make a bacon-ish, meaty flavor. The first 2 ingredients need to take up the most space. You can play with it till you get what you like. A lot of people don't like Liquid Smoke because it isn't organic, but it also helps a lot, and you only need a little. Also Worchestershore sauce and soy sauce/liquid aminos are great for adding to the meaty flavor. If you add a bit of sage, rosemary, and basil you can turn it into a sausage flavor. It's great with anything you'd normally make with bacon such as greens, cabbage, some soups, etc. Also works good if you make tacos with vegetables instead of meat. Just remember when eating vegetarian, to take vitamin b12 as your vitamin, eat lots of protein (any type of legumes mixed with grains including rice forms a complete protein), and get lots of variety. Some foods take time to learn to like because our taste buds get used to meat. Nuts, greens and especially spinach (I like it raw as a substitute for lettuce) will provide most of your iron needs too.

I used spelt flour, and chickpea juice (aquafaba), because I didnt have veggie broth (I used less than half a cup of aquafaba, because half a cup would have made it to wet). I also didnt marinate it because I didnt have the time, and I left out the vegan butter (didnt have any)....but I seasoned it a tad bit more on both sides while in the skillet, and it was sooo good. I can only imagine the explosive taste if I had the exact ingredients as you did, next time I will. I wish youtube would allow us to post pictures in the comments!

@VeggieRoseOfficial6 жыл бұрын
Thumbs up, if you like? 🙃 Thanks for watching guys!💕
@VeggieRoseOfficial6 жыл бұрын
+Dale Parris Jr. If you knead it for 3-4 minutes you'll end up with a more tender seitan then something you knead for 10 minutes. I guess it depends how you like the texture or what recipe you are going for but the longer you knead the more chewy and tough the seitan gets because it releases more gluten

@Mr. ParkPlace757 VA I don't go vegan because I just simply don't want to. I can still enjoy certain vegan recipes and prefer to go back to my meat in the end, can I not?
@akshay96024 жыл бұрын
@@thunderlemon6876 Nobody can force you to go vegan. We can just tell you why you should go vegan, there are lots of reasons to go vegan im not going to get into that cuz the comment will be too long but at the end of the day its your decision no point in asking here "can i not"? Nobody is holding a gun to your head and saying go vegan. We are just providing you non vegans some information but some people say vegans are too extreme.

I couldn't handle being a vegetarian or vegan. I wish vegans understood harm reduction if they actually care about animals and the environment. But vegan meals are delicious and creative for everyone.

When you steam them, do you wrap them in something then steam them or just plop them in a steamer and leave it for 45 min?

I Used to eat regular, but then after 35 noticed, I Am not attracted to meat, I hate meat, whenever I try eating meat I think of who died for me to eat and it will make me sick to my stomach..... so I used to eat white rice alone with bean juice. Then my son introduced me to vegan, and I fell in love . Now I can cook it with these videos thank you

If your trying to loose weight cut the amount of oil I used to fry them...you can just use a tiny bit of oil to brown them💕😉
@lexisveggiefood67236 жыл бұрын
Store bought red meat does seem to have alot of fat, like rose said cut oil. Also try cutting some sugar. I used to drink soda. Lost a lot of weight just from cutting that out! It's crazy, but it worked. Also, good luck on loosing weight. :-)
@draco9620036 жыл бұрын
Would cutting them into chunks like you did be good for stew? More specifically boeuf bourguignon! I’ve been scratching my head trying to figure out what to use to replace the beef and I never went the seitan route.
@cleopatrajones20246 жыл бұрын
Alissa T. You just saw that question on the internet like everyone else did & you just repeated it. You all didn't think of that question on your own. I never said I didn't like meat, it's just not healthy. If you didn't grow the cow yourself in a non polluted environment and let it graze in Grass that doesn't have chemicals then go for it but since I live in a major city and I don't want anything in my system for 48 to 72 hours, I just went vegan 15 years ago and eat fake meat. Hell, MEAT TASTES GOOD, it's just not good for you.
@lexisveggiefood67236 жыл бұрын
CLEOPATRA JONES before going vegetarian, I was (still kinda am, just not meat animals) a farmer who raised all kinds of stuff. I will tell you, store bought is definitely bad. Homeraised depends on how it was raised, but in the end an animal does die. I have nothing against it, as on as its humane. My health (really really really × 10 bad acid reflux) made me vegetarian.
