THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! for Costa's Veggie Soil Recipe! I am looking forward to using this, because for me, as a new gardener only 2 years, soil nutrition and soil nutrition maintenance have been my arch nemesis

I wish GA could have a weekly/monthly segment from Darwin, as our growing seasons are quite different to the southern states.

Most Bunnings will have a big box outside the store that people drop their used pots in, I've scored soooooo many pots from there!

@autumngryffinnheart6374Ай бұрын
@@edstraker8451 I just meant that I tend to be inattentive and inconsistent, and especially forget to harvest. Costa's enthusiasm is contagious and I enjoyed this clip very much.

I love TommyToe tomatoes. And the plants get huge. A single Tommy Toe plant in a pot like that would need a lot of feed after a few weeks and a much bigger trellis unless you were constantly cutting it back. Two of them plus four clumps of basil? I'd say that pot is massively overplanted. Maybe it's because I'm a warmer climate gardener but that won't work in Central Qld in one pot. Love your work though.

What about growing in styrofoam, is it safe to grow veggies in them ? As a new gardener, would like to know if it's really safe ?
@willynthepriestessАй бұрын
Have tried this, styro seems to degrade within a season leaving you with a mess to clean up. Not recommended but if you don't mind trashing the rooted styro boxes, they're better than nothing

arent u meant to break up the roots and soil of the seedling a bit before planting them?
@GardeningAustraliaАй бұрын
Only if the plants have signs of being root bound, which is more likely with older seedlings. Healthy new seedlings like these can go straight in. Just make sure to water before and after planting.

I am now wearing a mask when dealing with compost as legionnaires disease is on the rise in NZ. ? should everyone be encouraged to do so now.
@GardeningAustraliaАй бұрын
It’s a good idea to wear face masks and gloves when handling compost and potting mix, to minimise the risk of Legionnaires. This is especially important for those at increased risk: older people, smokers, or people with a weakened immune system or respiratory issues. Do you know how many harmful chemicals are in black plastic? And you want to grow food in that ? I thought you were kind of intelligent but I’m really second guessing that now.

If you ground them up and sprinkled them over yr muesli I’d agree.
