Now that my cheap BMW E46 M3 is in perfect driving condition it was time to start adding mods. First thing on the list was to swap out the stock, raspy (and somewhat silent) exhaust for a more desirable one. After weeks of research, I narrowed down my exhaust option to one made by Rogue Engineering. It was hard to get my hands on one, but when I finally did, it was so worth it!

supersoni126 you’re right, the recall is only for the jack stands and it’s a particular batch. I had a set that were included in the batch range. Ramps are fine, guess he wanted that $30 back haha

Clean car, and awesome choice for section 3. Definitely get a rasp eliminator pipe or install a set of AERO resonators in section 1 after you install the AA headers!

DIY guys right here I installed my axle backs on my 2012 mustang in my parents drive way I used the same things used ramps and wheel chucks did it myself luckily my exhaust wasn’t heavy it was 2 different pieces it was a pain though

Cant wait for the headers. This muffler is big upgrade but it is still not good enough mainly because of stock headers. Also CSL intake would be sweet combination with these mods.

I haven't always agreed with your E46 M3 content, like the manual conversion that simply didn't pass the financial sniff test. That being said, what I appreciate the most about your videos is your great attention to detail in performing the mods. And this one is killer. Damn, for the first time I truly have exhaust envy, both in the sound and the look (those tips are awesome!) and will avoid walking around the rear of mine and its pathetic stock setup for at least a week because of you. Nice exhaust. I went with the Eisenmann Sport Exhaust with LaMans Cut 83mm Tips - E46 M3. This was 19 years ago. Exhaust is still amazing to this day. Pricey though. Back then I paid like $1.3k today they sell for $2.6k

Revisiting this video after 2 years. Ive had my exhaust on and off a few times now for different jobs. You gotta wonder who at BMW decided to make an exhaust out of granite. It's unbelievably heavy! My rear and middle are welded together too making it very hard to handle. Still, only ever had my own help, working on the floor in my garage. Usually end up with hideous bruises on my back after a day working on it.

It needs to be welded on. Otherwise carbon builds up inside the exhaust pipes and eventually your exhaust will fall off. Happened to me after removing the mid box and due to a shabby garage which did a crap job!

Sounds awesome! I would look into an AR20 mid-muffler if you want to remove some of the rasp but still give hints of it at higher rpms! Give it a much deeper tone up to 4K. Some people run 2 in parallel, but that completely eliminates the rasp, one is what I believe is the best option imo!

I have a saad racing 4” exhaust that doesn’t just sound deep when it’s idling it sounds deep when you rev it all the way up. That’s the problem I realized when looking for an exhaust for my e46 m3. They all sound nice at idle but they’re still raspy when you get on em. Why didn’t you really get on it bro? Lol Cause u know it still sounds raspy as hell. SAAD RACING EXHAUST. Look it up.

easily one of the best exhausts but for the best sound improvements, CHANGE THE HEADERS. the header material makes the exhaust sound super raspy. changing the muffler only really makes the rasp louder

Let me start out by saying this I own a 2002 E46 M3 Naturally aspirated convertible that I put $67,000 into. Everything from carbon fiber accents for my interior to full carbon fiber hood, trunk, front, three piece split front air dam, rear diffusers, side diffusers side skirts and the list goes on not to mention motor work, rear end work, suspension and brakes rims and tires I took a very stock car in might’ve the hell out of it including my exhaust. Which brings me to my point why on earth would you waste your time and your money bolting up a $1300 exhaust catback system and put it on to stock exhaust from the headers back to where are you bolt the EL Diablo system to and expect it to sound to its full capability? Now I get where you’re going and what you were trying to do just to prove that that system sounds better than the stock one will let me help you I can get a better sound with a can of corn that’s been emptied for a lot less money than $1300 plus for a cat back system. At the very least if you were going for a full different sound you should’ve started out by ripping out the factory headers section 1section 2 and section 3 of the factory exhaust system And at the very least install new 3 inch from the headers back including an X pipe leading you to the Diablo. Then you could’ve done a true comparison from the factory sound to what the Diablo can offer I was going to buy one when I went to change my exhaust but the price just did not make sense to pay $1300 or just a catback portion when I paid $300 less for a full system from front to back all brand new stainless 3 1/2 inch all the way to my cat box and yes it made a world of difference from stock. And to be honest I’m having a real hard time believing that you got that car for $3000 just because the sequential clutch system was whacked out because it’s not that hard to fix and it doesn’t cost that much to repair it. Or worst-case to just go get a used six speed and a clutch pedal because that’s pretty much all you need and a gear shifter and it’s 123 rip out put in The six speed and you’re off to the races. I hope you don’t think I’m picking on you cause I’m not I’m just critiquing your methodology because if you’re gonna do something you should do it right or don’t bother I came across to you because of my young grandson who seems to think you’re the shit I know a lot about cars especially cause I own an M3 and I’ve owned BMWs for the last 15 years so he has seen the metamorphosis that happens when I buy a new BMW from totally stock to totally wild. I only wish there was a way that I could post a picture of my car on here because if you saw it you have to go get yourself a paper towel to wipe the spit that’s running down your chin because you’ll be drooling all over it I promise you.

AA Headers were installed post this video and the rest of the system I have in hand to install. You gloating about the money you spend on your M3 doesn't really help your back up your critiques, at least not in my eyes. The car was purchased for $3000 and honestly I don't need you to believe it. It was a very very lucky find and I happen to be at the right time at the right place. Luck happens sometimes. I personally like the stock exhaust. But hey as long as your happy. Im not telling you how to do things but can you be a little easy on the m3? Remember it has high mileage and pushing it hard can lead to alot of issues in your future and i dont think you wanna pay for that.
