Mine is a 99. I take it to Matagorda beach in Texas. Walks the DRY, DEEP sand like it's a paved road, while 4x4 trucks are getting stuck, as they PRETEND not to notice this little TIME CAPSULE dum-diddy-dum-dum, right passed them! I also drive it from Bay City TX where I live, to Corpus Christi tX, where I work, weekly. Luv My Vehicross!!!!!!!!!!!!

First, thanks for making a video that allows us to hear the vehicle instead of using the "music" many video makers use. We drove a base model Trooper from 1989 to 1999 and a base model Wrangler from 1999 to 2008. We took those vehicles on Elephant Hill and the full length of Lockhart Basin, Bull Canyon and more than a dozen other routs in the Moab area. I think the VehiCROSS was intended for people who wanted the capability of the vehicles we had but wanted something that was different from the more utilitarian vehicles we had. (Someone once described the 80s Trooper as "agricultural".)

Though I did take that VehiCROSS on Moab's trails 2 years in a row while it was 100% stock, it received a few upgrades over the years. I had a small lift using OME springs in back & cranking the torsion bars in front to level it out. A Powervault cat-back exhaust paired with a K&N intake. Super Sliders. Extra skid plates. Just stuff to make it a little better, but it was great from the get go! I don't own it anymore, but wish I still did!

I was in 4 wheel low, and the VehiCROSS can handle anything a stock Wrangler can and then some. The section where I didn't want to give it the Moab bump was an angled approach, and I didn't want to risk rolling by gassing it. Lockers would help, but even with open front and limited slip rear diffs I did everything in that video including the hot tub & ledge. Jeeps are nice, but I love my VX.
@joshquiroz5 жыл бұрын
GillT I thought with TOD activated and the rear LSD the rear wheels would easily move you past the obstacle without bumping? Is your LSD worn out?

Torque sensing 4x4 is good on road. Need a rear locker at least for off road. All open diff 4x4 will spin only 2 wheels that have the least traction. I will be picking up one of these if available when my current lease vehicle is done. They have always been so quirky cool.

Hahah..I'm here because of your ad in FB Marketplace. I'm heading to the Rockies and I'm looking for an affordable suv to take with me. So far, it's down to a Montero, a Trooper and this.
@TheGTG3333 жыл бұрын
I think the ad is from the 2nd owner. I had a blast owning the VehiCROSS, and might get another as an off road toy eventually. They are great trucks, but are rare, and deserve TOY status (not daily driver) in my humble opinion.
@1satisfiedmind3 жыл бұрын
@@TheGTG333 Thanks, it's in North Carolina, where I am, but I'm moving to Colorado soon...and definitely looking for a toy. Drivers window doesn't go down and A/C doesn't work, and it now has 147k. it looks exactly like it did in the video, except they added two more rear window stickers in the back.

This is such an awesome vehicle. Looks awesome too I really like the grey mat along the entire base, like Otterbox designed a car. Reminds me of the Mini Beachcomber concept. Would be awesome to see a 2014 or15 VX. Better looking 4x4 than anything on the market today in my opinion followed close by the 2013 range rover.

where do you get parts for your Vehicross?
@TheGTG3339 ай бұрын
I have not owned a VehiCROSS for a long time now. However, (depending on what you are looking for) a lot of parts are easy to come by. The V6 engine and transmission are common, and the parts for drivetrain, transmission, steering, and suspension are not usually hard to find. The VX shares some parts with ISUZU's Rodeo and Trooper, so used parts can be had there. Some parts (like cosmetic stuff) can be hard to find, but Facebook groups might help. Lastly, there are some companies that make aftermarket stuff for the VX. Good luck finding what you need.
@bradh61853 жыл бұрын
How hard is it to find parts?
@TheGTG3333 жыл бұрын
I do not own a VehiCROSS at present, but am still in the know. I will tell you this. The VX is very rare, and while some parts are easily had, most are not. Body pieces are very rare, and even used ones are hard to come by because so few were produced. Do NOT get into a collision with your VehiCROSS!! There are certain things that were shared with other ISUZUs, but even those are getting harder to find in junkyards. Suspension and drivetrain bits are easily found, and you could always replace them with aftermarket bits if tho don't mind it not being 100% stock.

@@TheGTG333 The thing I would be concerned about is windshields, I would assume they are nearly impossible to find.
@TheGTG3333 жыл бұрын
@@travisk5610 You'd be surprised. Safelite has replace many VX windshields. I talked to a glass repair guy about hard to find glass like the back windows of a VehiCROSS or a Porsche 928, and he said they can do anything even customize stuff for hot rods or whatever. The main worry is body panels, lights, etc.

What wheels and tires do you have on?
@TheGTG3337 жыл бұрын
15 " DICK CEPEK DC-1 wheels, but I can't remember the tires. I kept switching up until I settled on BFG All-Terrains. Pro Comp All-Terrains were good, but Pro Comp X-terrains (that looked cool) were only good in mud. They were no where near as good anywhere else (street, snow, rocks, etc.).

how do these compare to a subaru forester?
@TheGTG3337 жыл бұрын
The 4 door Forester (and all other Subarus except that 2 seater sports car that is 1/2 Toyota) are AWD car-based crossovers, but the 2 door VehiCROSS is a true 4WD truck, so they don't compare at all.
