Reddy garu...you got it totally wrong....the Venkatagiri family are the descendants of the Padmanayaka Kings of Rachakonda and Devarakonda; when those kingdoms have fallen, with Devarakonda falling later in 1475 AD, they joined the court of Hampi Vijayanagaram....and that is how they got the Venkatagiri estate....the Venkatagiri and Bobbili family are related...

The Venkatagiri family history was got compiled by Lord Mckenzie who was first, the Surveyor General of the Madras Presidency and later the Surveyor General of India...and that book was known as the Velugotivari Vamsavali with Velugoti being the family surname of the Venkatagiri kings....this manuscript was preserved in the Central Library at Madras... In the Vamsavali yes it was mentioned that Chevi reddy or Bethala Reddy was the ancestor of the Velugoti family of Venkatagiri which is mostly not tenable because none of the Padmanayakas of the Velugoti family had the surname Reddy....the confusion seems to have arisen because the place of origin of both Velamas and Reddys is the same and is the "Pillalamarri-Anumagallu" area of Nalgonda district....moreover both the Padmnayakas and the Reddys had Recherla Gotra....so that part of history is not connecting at all and is only speculation...

But in the Vamsavali it was mentioned that Chevi Reddy begot a large treasure on account of his SC servant named Reka for which Reka had to sacrifice himself....therefore it is said that in gratitude Chevi Reddy promised that Rekas name would be remembered forever and took his name Reka as part of the Gotra name Recherla..... and even today before every marriage of Padmanaykas of Recherla Gotra, one SC couple has to be compulsorily got married first before the Padmanayaka couple can get married...does that indicate that the Velugoti family descended from Chevi Reddy? But that does not seem plausible at all because during their tenure with Kakatiyas as well as during the Rachakonda Devarakonda kingdoms the Padmanayakas and the Reddys had a continuous fight for supremacy....and because of this constant fighting both the kingdoms got weakened and were swallowed up by Hampi Vijayanagaram and the Bahamani kindoms later....

After the Kakatiyas, the Reddys ruled an independent Kingdom with its capital at Addanki, while the Padmanayakas ruled an independent kingdom at Rachakonda which was later split into the 2 kingdoms of Rachakonda and Devarakonda with two brothers ruling them....the Reddy kingdom of Addanki later got split into two on account of rivalry betweern 2 claimants....into Kondaveedu and Rajahmundry Reddy kingdoms....Kataya Vema Reddy of the Rajahmundry kingdom has married the daughter of the Vijayanagara King Devaraya I....

Velama jathi is born from maala(sc) who were boycotted from villages in 18th century in bihar and maharastra. The migrated rich maalas(sc) were settled in some areas of telangana and Utarrandra . The britishers use to say well maala as these people were sneakers to britishers so it was a compliment given by them as, well maala ,which later turned in to velama. Well maala is Velama now. This is the history basically. Velama is still SC Category in Maharastra and Bihar. Bc in Andhra pradesh.
