Velankanni is situated in Nagapattinam District, Tamilnadu, This lies on the east coast of the Bay of Bengal. It has one of the very famous and old catholic churches in India called the Velankanni Shrine Basilica. Mother Mary saved the Portuguese sailor from the storm during the year of 16th century. There were three other Miracles that happened around the same time. It was a small chapel during the time it was built. It was announced as a Basilica in the year of 1962.

We use to visit vailankanni church every year but last year I lost my father so this year we did not go. My father was a strong believer in vailankanni madha. May my father's soul rest in peace.

I agree with you.I am living at France,,so we used to go to Lourdes every year.There people are very pious with faith not like vailankani. I think people come there just to enjoy and to spend their holidays. Church management 's only aim is to earn money. Even at fatima in Portugal, people are very pious and come there to pray,not to enjoy Very sad to see. Even in some famous hindu temples people respect.

@sharmilathomas5553 I guess you’re mistaken kindly read the title of my video once again I have mentioned Velankanni Beach is a beautiful tourist destination and not Velankanni Shrine (Basilica Of Our Lady Of Good Health Church) Sometimes people read the title in a hurry and make hasty comments and I guess you would have done the same but no worries. Just for your knowledge Velankanni Beach is different from the Basilica of our Lady of Good Health church. Kindly note The Holy Shrine is a popular pilgrimage destination and it attracts around 1 million pilgrims from all over the world every year however just half a kilometre away is the Velankanni beach which is a popular tourist destination visited by both pilgrims to the church and also leisure seekers. This makes Velankanni a unique destination in many ways 😊🙏

Basilica of our Lady of Good Health at Velankanni is a renowned pilgrimage site in Velankanni and millions of pilgrims visit this holy place with lots of hope and the people here are very pious as when I see the people around me I could feel the love and devotion that they have for Our Mother Mary. I don’t think you have visited Velankanni hence you have posted this comment. If you ever get a chance do visit this divine place and you will have a blissful experience 😊🙏
