Can you please make an example / tutorial video on the 2D depth buffer shader? I may want to do something like that for my game, but only have speculation on what it actually does since the video here doesn't actually show an active example, but a screenshot.

yep, I can come up with an example. The screenshot is of the resulting depth texture after all writes. So its a visualization of the distance of every pixel that was "closest to the camera" at the final render, as determined by the fragment shader's output depth value. The final output image determines which fragment shader's color output to use based on which depth is closer to the camera.

@@chrisbiscardi This is why you're awesome. 🙂 Thank you, sir.

Small note: typst isn't pronounced "typist", it's pronounced as its written :)

thanks! I'll re-evaluate. The pronunciation guide in the github docs could probably be updated if that's the case. > "Ty" like in Typesetting and "pst" like in Hipster Which reads like suggesting "Type-st", which is very similar to, but not, "Typist". So "it's pronounced as its written" unfortunately doesn't help me much. I'll have to try to get it into an IPA playback system or pay better attention in the next community call.

2:30 damn... a 2d depth buffer would have made the development of diablo 1 WAY better if you listen to their talks xD
