Why it's cancelled now? Money. The first one even with criticism still made quite some profit thanks to people checking it for themselves. The second one wasn't even talked about. No one came to see it, people turned avay from it, and Kaling is in writing hell where her work belongs 😊.

Yeah it was due to money, but season 2 came out months ago, idk why it took THIS long to comfirm it. Ah well, doesn't matter. This is a victory in my book 😂

You CAN write a politically critical show, but theres three things you can't screw up. 1. It's done tastefully, meaning it's not all of the time. It bases itself in fact or, and what is said is ACTIALLY helpful to point out. 2. Original idea, not changing everything about the characters, which you *can* change the characters if you still follow their fundamental dynamics or if the change is in the interest of exploring a new creative idea. 3. Having substance. The writing in Velma was shite, Mindy's VA wasn't expressive, the comedy wasn't funny, the only good thing was the art style, and it got overshadowed by the awful parts. Twerking isn't funny Mindy. The real problem is that it was a self insert for Mindy and not a new idea.
