For anyone who likes wholesome grandmas, here's a story about mine! :D So, at that time I wasn't quite sure about my sexuality either so I never brought it up with my family (not in fear of not being accepted, I grew up with a few stories about my mothers girlfriend around the time she had me so I never had any worries about not being accepted) Then one day my grandma comes over, sits down on the couch next to me, looks me straight in the eyes and goes: "So, have you got a boyfriend yet sweetie?" She paused for a second before she smiled at me and went: "Or a girlfriend?" And that was probably the start of me realising I was a lesbian. So yeah, my grandmother really doesn't know much about all the terms and labels but she still tries her best to be as supportive and inclusive as possible. :D

11:55 fun fact: a trans woman scored the soundtrack for the original Tron movie her name is Wendy Carlos, and she also helped developing the first Moog synthesizer and invented ambient music
@John_Weiss2 жыл бұрын
Yep. Wendy worked with Robert Moog on developing the first commercially available synthesizers. She was buds with Stanley Kubrick. She scored, "A Clockwork Orange," "The Shining," "Tron," and other movies. She brought the synthesizer to the masses with her grammy-winning album, "Switched on Bach," which created numerous imitators. As Wendy put it: "People don't dislike synthesizer music. They dislike _boring_ music." At that time, the _only_ music being written for synthesizer was "modern classical", a.k.a. music of the Schoenberg school of orchestral music, a.k.a. orchestral music that all sounded like rush-hour traffic in Manhattan at 5pm on a Friday. Now imagine that being played on a synthesizer instead of played by an orchestra. Yeah, it was fscking awful. And for all of her innovations, all of her efforts, what did she get? She got hit with slander, transphobic attacks, obsessive intrusive questions about her genitals, and mockery. Wendy is _The _*_Grandmama_*_ of ALL Electronic Music._ Period. Full-Stop. End. of. Story. And she deserves far more credit than she deserves.

I remember coming out to my grandmother and her being so supportive and accepting. When someone uses age as an excuse for their negative or hurtful actions, I think of how my grandmother acted and remember that it’s not a valid excuse. My grandmother helped me feel comfortable in who I am and reassured me that she would still love and support me even as I continued to find myself. A bit of a wholesome grandmother story I guess haha

Hey OT, I wanna thank you for being a massive influence on my life. In the 3 maybe 4 years I've been watching your content (I can't fully remember) you have changed my life and turned me into a far more understanding and accepting person of not just queer people but those of all shapes and sizes. I can still remember when I found one of your videos in my recommended and started watching, you had a very calming energy in them back then. As I watched through I eventually stumbled onto one of your LGBT videos. At first, I assumed it was just a one-off from a previous pride but as I found out pretty quickly it's about 75% of your content. Safe to say I watched so many of these videos and quickly became a fan. They slowly but surely opened me up to being more accepting and understanding of the many areas of the community. I think it was helped by you being pretty clueless on many things yet encouraging nonetheless. I even found myself going back to many of your old videos and watching those from identities I didn't recognise just so I could learn about them. Thanks to your videos on Asexuals I was able to learn I was one myself. But it was your trans videos that changed me. Unfortunately, when I was younger I learned about trans people and their existence from the worst kind of place. One filled with hatred, spite and immense toxicity. Because of this, I held many negative views towards trans people (ironic). But thanks to you, that changed. I can vividly remember a story about a doctor's embarrassing experience with a trans woman (I can't remember if it was you who told it or not). And basically after hearing the story instead of feeling disgust, I felt sorry for the woman. Because of you and your videos I learned more about what it really meant to be trans. Because of you, I was able to realise I was trans, so thank you. Your videos have been an extremely comforting experience during times when I'm down. You've always seemed like a father in a way like a kid showed you a meme they found funny that you didn't understand but you were still supportive anyway. And like my own Dad a little loud, giggly and over the top but I've always loved that. You've taught me valuable lessons that I will hold and cherish for the rest of my life and thanks to you I was able to learn I am not alone and that there is a whole world of people like me. You've taught me that forcing yourself to fit into the box society tries to put you in instead of being yourself is no way to live. That being yourself is the best thing you can do and you should strive for it regardless of what others say. I don't know if you're ever going to read this but thank you, One Topic At A Time. You changed my life.

I am autistic and I really enjoy hearing people who at first was not socialy exepted or have been hiding their true self fir a long time and when i started to notice the LGBTQ+ people coming out more and being socialy exepted id made me feel happy (Almost as happy as singing and sharks!). I have had a probelm ever since i actually started thinking about me being autistic in 4th grade i have slowly been masking more and more, espacially after i realised that i was being mocked for my big interest in sharks. Now i am in 9th grade and i have slowly started to take off the mask but it is scary, i fear not being exepted for my differences and i wish i wasn't. It was in 6th grade i actually found out about LGBTQ+ (probably because i have not been thinking about gender or sexuality) and looking back i have noticed that when i see a homosexuall realation ship and get happy that at the same time i get hope, hope that I one day can be my true self again like i was before i thuoght about being socially accepted. This has been hard for me to write because my mind keeps telling me when i do ANYTHING social in socual medias that it will be bad, that it is a waste of time and that no one will care but I have ignored that voice and kept writing. The most facinating thing about sharks in my opinion is the diversity between a lot if the specice! Tgere are sharks the Great White who always has to swim to keep water coming into their gills so they can breathe and then there are bottom dwellers like the Wobbegong who can stay still on the bottom of the ocean for weeks waiting for pray to pass close enough abd then they strike! (they also have funny beards!) some sharks like the Frilled Shark and the Goblin Shark live deep in the ocean meanwhile the more feirce sharks like Tiger Sharks, Bull sharks and Great Whites stay closer to the surface but even the gentle giants, Basking sharks and Whale sharks tend to stay close to the suface. Basking Sharks and Whale sharks are the biggest currently living sharks and they both eat plankton with Whale Sharks also eating small fish, the biggest shark that has exsisted is the Megalodon who theoreticaly grew from 15 to 20 meters long and some of it's teeth grew up to 18 cm! It's prey was mainly small whales and it went extinct due to climate change 2.5-10 million years ago. If there are any facts about a certain shark you want just ask and uf i don't know I will gladly do the reachersch.
