Great video! I loved seeing (at 18:04) you do what I usually do which is to inadvertently knock something onto the floor. I must say, your resulting comments were significantly more child-friendly than the kind of language that usually comes out of my mouth as a result of such slip-ups!

Can't thank you enough for your patient expertise Alan . I'm very much interested in your upcoming 4 speed box overhaul. Mine grinds going to/from second to third gear. I've had it apart and put in new bushings but it's still not right. Can I also ask, when you examine the gears, if radial minute cracks from the shaft hole can be repaired by welding. It will be marvellous to see you fettle your spare gearbox. Thanks in advance. Brian in Lancaster.

Hi Alan I have a 1957 venom according to my velocette manual you adjust tappet clearance at the top end of push rod not at the camshaft so no need to remove the timing case

Agreed. I have one piece pushrods which ideally are set with a feeler gauge between the follower and the cam on the base circle. 2 piece pushrods have a telescopic format which enables checking and adjustment at the cylinder head. I got the current one piece pushrods decades ago from Dodkin as they were a bit lighter. Sadly there is only so much I feel I can talk about in these videos, as there is a risk of boring people. Thanks for the response.

Wonderful content, so nice of you to share your extensive knowledge on these wonderful machines. Quite a sturdy rearview mirror set up you have. It would be great to learn more about that set up. Thank you, Doug 54 MSS

The mirrors are pattern Japanese. I use dog leg pattern alloy clutch and brake levers. Both of the clamps have threaded towers which the mirrors screw into. You have to be careful when you buy the mirrors, some of the threaded towers have a left hand thread on one side. Thanks for the response. In addition, filing the alloy clutch lever to allow the lever to travel further and lift the clutch more is another advantage. Not so easy on steel levers

Hi Alan if you read these comments I would like to borrow or reproduce the tool you created to refit the clutch basket as I am having real difficulty in installing the sleeve nut

Where's the 5 speed conversion content.
@alanglen59022 жыл бұрын
The series of videos started with the rebuilding and preparation for the 5 speed conversion. Look for Velocette 500, 5 speed conversion , part 1........through to 8...etc
