More tear down on the Velocette engine. And a tiny amount of progress on other things.

This old stuff is always full of surprises isn't it. I do remember watching Mr. Tweed split a bike crank on his channel once. It looked a bit intense, but doable. That being said, I think you're making the right choice about the crank. I'll never own one of these, but I do like seeing how it's put together.

The way I see it is it's just not worth the considerable cost to make it perfect when good enough will do to ride around the garden. But I try to leave it so the next person can improve it if needed. That's why people cutting bits off the body is so annoying. That's hard to repair!

Deciding where to stop is the hardest part. Here in Oz having something like the LE registered for short runs into town can be expensive. In Queensland the cheapest was $150/year but it think in Tasmania where we now live there is Special Interest rego that's probably cheaper but age has vetoed any more motorcycle projects for me. Love to do an early 1970s Bonneville but I'd have to pay somebody to kick start it for me. 😄

I probably won't road register it. I don't have a motorcycle license anyway to ride it on the roads. Although that doesn't seem hard to get. I mention in another comment my aim is to make it rideable about the garden. And I try to make it so the next person can make it better if they want to. A full engine rebuild isn't really worth the money for me and of course you never get that money back if you sell it.
