Thank you Tony, pretty interesting. You can replace an Arduino with an STM32 board (lot of choice in Nucleo boards), most of them are having at least a good and fast 12-bit ADC (you can use Arduino programming env (check STM32Duino), Arm Mbed and many other stuff).

Julien, Yes there are many options for sampling data and everyone has their own favourite. I use Arduinos and ESP32 for several appropriate tasks where I need some stand alone capability. In this case I do not want nor need to programme a DAQ system and PC. With the LabJack I only need to program the PC. This is straight forward data acquisition which needs no smarts outside of the PC.

Tony, thanks a lot for your time and info. I was wondering you took the same aproach to the load cell. Just implemented a cell amplifier to feed 0-3 v signal to the LabJack. That way (as you stated) need only to program the pc (and not the microcontroler if one is used). Thanks again from South America.

I use a dedicated loadcell amplifier with built-in gain and filter adjustments.

@@MotoChassisByTonyFoale Thanks again. I just placed an order for a LabJack (a cheap one) and will follow your workflow. I'm interested in high-frequency data logging. I use Python and Arduino, but I know that other languages are much faster, and I need to upgrade from ATmega328P. I'm half my way through a Java class in college, and I have a little knowledge of electronics. Next semester I will take an electronics class and make good use of the information you share.

Sorry, but I couldn't give this video a like because of the horrible hissing sound.

My high frequency hearing is degraded from old age and noise abuse and I do not hear any hissing sound. I thank you for the notice and I'll see what I can do to fix that on new videos.

@@MotoChassisByTonyFoale Having considered your reaction to my reply, I still gave this video a 👍 ❗ 😁 (Hope you can avoid the phenomenon in future.) Marvin says: Don't panic and wear your Mask. 🖖😷👍 ❗

@@4623620 I have looked into this and it seems that the problem is when I do a voice over using my laptop. There is no problem when recording on camera. I'll look into a solution. Thanks for the tip off.
