If I disconnect the battery on the raid controller will my raided disc be lost???

+jesperbbb Your raid disks should be perfectly fine. The battery really only comes into play when the server loses power to keep the cached data preserved till the server can come back up and write the cache to the drives.

Dylan Kerling Thanks for the answer, my server went black and complained about the memory on the small display, But no boot screen on the monitor so i guess the motherboard is broken.

+jesperbbb It definitely could be, it would probably be worth going down to one stick of ram and trying to boot and swapping out the stick in slot 1 if it doesn't post the first time. It could be as simple as a failed DIMM as well.

Dylan Kerling I tried one pair of rams but the same error messege appear and no boot screen, and without rams the same problem and no boot screen. So i hope its a faulty motherboard

If you unplug the machine and then disconnect the battery then yes, you will ABSOLUTELY loose your RAID configuration; but some controllers can recognize the disks and reconstruct the array, especially if the disk placement is/remains exactly the same, but then again some don't.

Sure, sure, now how do you remove the system board from the tray. Btw what did you name your server? "Wimpy"? "8x256"? Grab all the "procks"??? LOL Thats plain goofy. Surprised you didn't call the memory-- "Memmies".
