Friend, I would like to see more videos that teach how to make gun parts by hand in the place where I live, they are difficult to find.

I remember seeing some of the M11-9 flats that were laser cut many years ago. They were fold and weld. Unfortunately the guy making them was visited by the Alphabet soup company and told him they did not qualify as 80% flats, maybe if he had left half of the holes out of the receiver it may have qualified. I like the side cocking uppers where the cocking handle does not reciprocate with every shot.

Idk how my FFL said it’s less then a 80 percent kit, becuZs you have to weld and still fab to make it into a firearm, but that’s what I heard,

i have a 45 kit im currently working on. trying to think if i wana attempt to make my own side plates or have a waterjet or cnc place make them. hope to see some updates so i can follow along!

I've got it tacked together right now, thats about it. Ran out of argon gas so need to grab a new tank before I go any further with it. Been busy with other stuff. I got these side plates on gunbroker IIRC

What is the proportions of this firearm frames?

Yo! What filler rod did you use? I'd like to parkerize my kit so I know stainless steel is out of the question

ER70S-2 I think....just plain old rod for mild steel. Not sure how it will parkerize, I haven't gotten that far yet. But I plan on parking this one.

Can you do a video on how you welded the plates together? There used to be a guy that sold a weld jig but he is gone. Would love to see how you did it.

It was pretty straightforward, I didnt use a jig. Just some clamps/shims where necessary and put the upper and the bracket in there to keep everything lined up and squared. There;s tabs on all the parts, they kindof click together.

Not finished yet, but getting there. Its about 75% done. Little more welding. Then probably an overview again, and comparison to MPA parts.

Printed on paper, blueprint style with measurements.

Just a simple sheet metal design, u skip weld it let it cool fill in the skips, its the warpping got to watch out for, skip weld let cool ,repeat.

Tig weld it so you can just fuse it together without bulking it up with a bead. Are kits available ?

Thats what I ended up doing for the seam, just fusing the pieces together, seems to be holding up fine. Yes, Velocity has kits available.

Does the front bracket need to be welded in

There was a hole in the bracket where it rests on the lower frame, I just plug welded it there, when everything was lined properly

Was does that front bracket peice do? Mine doesn’t fit well without it

It reinforces the front of the lower/frame. Theres a bit of stress on that takedown pin while firing. It may or may need some fitting. Mine fit pretty snug in there, and I just plug welded it into the center section once I had the three plates fitted together.

For the trigger gaurd do you push it all The way forward or do you push it back to mate up flat against the magelwell?

@@kevinpayne7557 When mine went together I did it tight up against the magazine well. There is a roughly 0.5mm gap where it looks like the trigger guard could have been slid forward away from the grip, but I welded it up with it up against the grip. As long as its lined up with its tab you're probably fine. Maybe just do a small tack weld and then fit the trigger parts, make sure it works before welding the rest.

Just tacked together with a cheap TIG welder at the moment to see how it all fits together.

I like the tab system for the magwell, wish the trigger guard had the same

@@scottplagmann3411 The trigger guard has a similar notch, once you get it in there, its pretty hard to mess it is.

@@norincokid excellent! Some areas have some give on the tolerances but that magwell is a bugger if it deviates

would a vmac upper fit on a cobray lower?

I'm not sure. They are a little different in width I believe between the two manufacturers.

Do you happen to know if the lower is in spec to the original Mac 11s?

I don't believe they are. I think the width is slightly different, so internal parts might be a problem. I have an MPA which I believe is closer to Cobray spec, I can check if the parts are compatible.

The 3 piece assembled lowers should be the same dimensions as a factory folded lower, some the squared bottom seems wider

I don't see that they sell 80% kids anymore. All they sell is kits without side panels

There's other places that sell side plates [or] you can just make the side plates easily by searching the schematics (schematics are "protected" by 1A speech) on scribe and other locations and buying the metal at your local hardware store/metal shop. 🎉 😂

pff I'd just turn down the power on a little flux core inverter and go to town. Nothing a disc can't clean up. These guns aren't winning any beauty pageants anyway.
