Could you try some products targeted at children? It might be interesting to see "What are kids eating?!" Like kid cuisine, lunchables, some of the dollar store products etc...

He's a grown man though, so he could have a different perspective on the amount of calories in it for his daily needs verses kid's daily needs. Interesting concept though.

ttttttttp2 True but it could still reveal interesting levels of sodium, cholesterol, questionable ingredients--not to mention quality of taste and texture of the foods :)

I have no firsthand experience with stuff like Lunchables (because my dad loved me). That being said, I am very curious as to what the deal was with those weird-smelling mess-kits aimed at every kid from the 90s onward. Lunchables and Gogurt may be a great place to start.

As someone who grew up in a poor family, I can personally vouch for home cooked meals being cheaper than frozen/prepackaged. Frozen foods are pretty expensive, actually. It's because they have to be shipped in a freezer truck. After thanksgiving, you can turn the turkey bones and some of the leftover meat into GALLONS of soup. Fun fact. The christmas ham? Save that bone. Buy some dried peas, you've got a delicious pea soup. Serve that up with some grilled cheese...

I can't believe people think you're being pretentious and belittling people who eat the kinds of foods you review. I always figured that the show was just taking a closer look at processed foods, showing that there are better alternatives, sometimes for less money. I don't see how that's a stab at people who eat these foods. It's just food, anyway.

TheWolfePit I agree I got the opposite impression from your channel. You have plenty of meals that arent expensive, like pasta dishes or dishes with cheap cuts of meat. Meals that stretch far and arent going to break the bank or cause health problems. Only been watching you a week or so and I can tell how down to earth you are. Keep up the research! 👌

Folks commenting about "poor" folks needing convenience foods are idiots. Two main reasons: Convenience foods are EXPENSIVE, not cheap. Anybody that has ever shopped knows this. Second, they don't eat this because they are poor, they eat it because they are lazy. And because they are lazy, they are probably poor. I love your videos and I think they are a valuable service. I appreciate you going to the trouble/expense to do them in addition to your time. Thanks.

Great series! Just to point out there are 8 potential sources of MSG in this product! Namely yeast extract, cheese culture, hydrolyzed soy protein, hydrolyzed wheat gluten, disodium inosinate, disodium guanylate, natural flavor and soy sauce! These contain free glutamates and the disodium guanylate/inosinate are flavor inhancers similar to MSG which work synergistically with MSG to boost the 'umami' flavor. This product also contains propylene glycol (commonly used as vehicle antifreeze and airport runway de-icer) and yellow 5 which is made from coal tar and contains arsenic, cadmium and also causes cancer! Yum!

Because I have diverticulitis, most of these processed meals literally makes me sick to my stomach. I had to learn to make most of them from scratch. What a lot of people don't realize is that if you make them from scratch, it's usually cheaper and you get more food for your buck.

I spent a good portion of my life on an extremely tight budget eating the kinds of things you do in this series, and I would have loved to know about some of the other recipes you've shown. I recently discovered your channel and I love it.👍👍👍 You show me all the things I would never buy but find fascinating. I am a pretty simple guy, can eat the same food day in and day out. I have found that if I stick with as close to natural as possible I end up feeling well in the long run. I will not tell you about the one fast frozen food that I do enjoy eating because I do not want you to tell me what I am really eating. It is simple, close to natural, fills me up for the day and I lose weight if I do not fall for my wife's cooking too. She cannot eat the same meal twice in one week and she cooks too much. On top of it she is one of those people that never gains weight.

I don't know what those haters are talking about...You are sharing GREAT information. I try not to eat too many things like this, BUT I do shovel it in from time to time as some of them are just ingrained in me to like...I am guilty of the Dinty Moore love, not as good as my homemade stew, but from time to time I like a can...Boxed macNcheese is another occasional guilty pleasure, but not often. Maybe you could try out a couple of the frozen meals from Michelina's as they are usually only about $1...Thanks for sharing these and your own recipes.

I like that he actually does videos on food that might be good. alot of these food reviewers only try food that they know is gonna be nasty.

payton ;ockamy I actually didn't expect that the canned ground beef would be good. It looked like my local corned beef in shreds.

Even during my poorest time, I still opted to cook hamburger helper type side dish with frozen vegetables or fresh onion/potato. It's not as healthy as food from scratch, but damn they are fast and efficient.

as i diabetic for over 35 years, I can tell you most of the prepackaged, processed foods will spike you sugars and has the nutitional value of eating the box it comes in. Thank you for pointing out how dangerous this food really is and that by just a little planning, you can have wholesome home-cooked meals and actually save on your food budget.

In my area, these processed ready-made meals are more expensive than if you bought the items and cooked it yourself. Another great video Wolfe!

Jen R Cream, milk, and cheese costs like $5 and with that much food, we could feed 4 people. Macaroni shells cost $4 here. Safe to say, if you are buying this shit then you are just lazy.

I love this series, ignore those silly people. Watching these just confirms why we eat so very little processed food. There really is no reason not to cook a decent meal. A little planning and organization is all it takes. I worked full time, raised 2 kids & cooked homemade meals. Yep, I was amazing. Lol

Don’t listen to the haters. It helps me make better decisions on what I will buy whenever I am forced to shop on a budget. You not only talk about the bad products, but you mentioned the ones That are good quality as well. If people are getting that upset over food, then they need to get a life.

Rice and beans supplemented with whatever meats and vegetables are cheap - kept me healthy and well nourished for going on 3/4 of century. It's cheap & with adequate exercise, it's all the body needs.
