It's amazing the difference in: sea state, wind speed, warmth, sunset/sunrise, land, suprise visitors - birds or marine life can have on sailors. An opportune time for repairs, review checklists, organize the boat, more sleep, eat, change of mood, vitally plan for their next upcoming phases. No one really enjoyed long periods of high gusting winds, relentless pounding in heavy seas, tiring sail changes, dark grey, cloudy, foggy skies, bone chilling cold. As they head north in the atlantic, they can peel off the layers. Enjoy some treats.

Summary of all those determined skilled sailors at sea! Review of the tracker with all the groups and conditions they face. Look forward to this for our leisurely armchair sailing. Last season on our bay in 27 foot keel boat we were ecstatic to peak 7.25 knots!

It doesn't matter what speed your own sailing is, just as long as you're enjoying it! :-)

I hope that Charlie does fight back, he really deserves winning the Vendee Globe this year ! This is not against Richomme but … Charlie has been excellent in the 2020 Vendee Globe and even better this time ! And it is a shame that Sébastien Simon had this problem with one of the foils …

Charlie and Yoann are friends as well as rivals, and the amazing battles they're having for the lead are quite incredible! Yes, a real shame for Seb, who is clearly a superb sailor.

Why is the exclusion zone so far north of the Falklands?
@Sail-World2 күн бұрын
The ice zone is moved periodically by the organisers, depending on where ice is spotted. Right now it's relatively far north in the South Atlantic.

@@Sail-World Ok so let's close a very very large part of an ocean because of A-76B and A76N which on Dec 26 were west north west of South Georgia Island? I cannot see any data supporting this claim. I would like to see it.

Amadeo and van Weynbergh for instance have more than 12000 nm to go to reach the finish line. Means 4 weeks or more to arrive at Les sables d‘Olonne. What happens, if they run out of food and water? Do they get asistance or does this mean, that they need to retire? The fleet will arrive in a time spread of probably more than 3-4 weeks. Are there all the time Vendee Globe staff waiting for them over such a long period of time? Is there day and night someone there to welcome the sailors, saying „Hello, you‘ve made it, well done“? Otherwise it would be very disappointing for them ... they arrive and noone is there at the finish line …
@Sail-World2 күн бұрын
Generally yes, all the sailors get a hero's welcome in Les Sables d'Olonne
