Vendée Globe Thursday 30th January Update - Boris Herrmann finishes 12th, Sam Davies next

Boris Herrmann on Malizia-Seaexplorer has finished 12th in the Vendée Globe after a tricky race, including a torn mainsail in the final hours, while Sam Davies has just a few miles until the finish line in Les Sables d'Olonne.
We hear from Giancarlo Pedote, and then Andi Robertson catches up with Alan Roura, Jingkun Xu and Fabrice Amedeo.
We then look at the Tracker, Leaderboard and PredictWind routing options for Antoine Cornic in 29th as he prepares to enter the North Atlantic.
We conclude with an update Oliver Heer.

Well done Boris round the world in 80 days. I know you will have wanted to do it quicker but your skills kept and back up team kept tou in the race after Malitzia had those technical issues. P12 overall is something to be very proud of and it has been a pleasure following you round the world for a second time. I want to see Boris and Jingkun Xu coming into the harbor. I'm sure I will cry... just like for Justine and Sam... and Charlie and Yoann... etc. What a remarkable leap forward to WITNESS the race in HD and like following a video game with the WILD CARD of not-quite-reliable wind predictions. I imagine, once there is enough power to run enough winches, and sail hooks don't break anymore, the sailors can control robot boats from home nonstop. I doubt if it'll be called "Look Ma, no-handing!" 😄
