Basil hit Manuel with an actual REAL frying pan!! It was supposed to be a fake one with a cushion on it, but somebody from the props crew put a real one there by mistake! And when Basil grabbed it for the scene, it was a REAL FRYING PAN!!! Poor Manuel!!

Got to love this new wave thinking. She's behaving inappropriately as an employee, arguably dressed inappropriately and roaming around the hotel while leaving naked sketches on the counter. It's called respecting your employer and place of employment whilst in keeping with some sort of decorum in the hospitality industry (by the way his wife in real life and co-writer of the series).

Small hotels like this would not have night staff so they just lock the doors and give guests a key. French lady had forgotten to take hers when she went out.

Fran, you are mispronouncing Basil.. Say it like this " Baz-ill. His not named after an herb.. That's Basil.. remember Baz-ill. I'm glad you're enjoying Fawlty ,it was pure genius of its time. You might want to check out the life of Brian as well. Pronounced Bri-an.. Another classic from the whole team that JC was part of, the Monty Python team. ❤❤🇬🇧🏴🇬🇧👍👍

The herb is pronounced the same way as his name in English (as is the word "herb" ... pronounced like the name Herb, not Basil 😀 ... so it's "a herb" not "an herb")
