Venezuela’s bolivar, from banknote to children’s toy | AFP

For the third time in 13 years, Venezuela has slashed zeroes off its inflation-battered currency, the bolivar. This time, it has shed six zeroes, for a total of 14 since 2008. With that, a million bolivars have overnight become one -- still the equivalent of about 25 US dollar cents. Venezuela's central bank announced the move last month to simplify transactions, with consumers scrambling to make payment for even the most basic goods or services. According to private sector estimates around two thirds of transactions in the country now happen in US dollars. Old bolivar banknotes now worth almost nothing have become children’s toys or lie discarded in streets around the country. The once-rich oil producer is battling its eighth year of recession and hyperinflation that reached nearly 3,000 percent in 2020 and more than 9,500 percent the year before, according to central bank figures.

This is very sad. Latin America was devastated by socialism and populism. Cuba and Venezuela are the greatest examples of this. Argentina is going down the same path. I hope my Brazil doesn't make the same mistakes. Most unbelievable of all this is to see students from the United States and Europe defending collectivist ideas... they have no idea what it's like to live in a place like this. Will they agree to change places with me?
@faharoon357
@faharoon357 2 жыл бұрын
I would exchange places with them. BTW, what is desvistating Cuba and Venezuela are the scanstions and economic blockade. Plus, the various coups that cause society to weaken. Before Hugo Chavez Venezuela was a capitalist nation and it was in much worst shape and it did not have and economic barriers place on it. Before you go and simply blame socialism learn and develop some context. It will serve you well in life.

For the last time, it was not socialism. It was the fact that the president changed the petro-dollar to euro. So the US caused a problem of which he was almost overthrown, which lead to Venezuela turning from a holiday resort into this dump.

lol the Chavez era is what caused this mess. The entire country became a welfare state that depended on oil exports. I guess you could say the best era for Saudi Arabia would be the 'big spending, no future plan' era the boom before the bust. luckily you have no influence so your dangerous and ignorant ideas won't be acted on.

JESUS is coming to RAPTURE His believers soon, you don't want to be LEFT BEHIND when God pours out His WRATH on a Christ rejecting world. His judgment has begun. Call on Jesus while you can. The choice is yours, eternal Heaven or eternal hell ⁹If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9) Jesus died for our sins, according to the scriptures was buried, and rose 3 days later, according to the scriptures (1 cor. 15:1-4) Jesus is waiting with open arms, it doesn't matter what you've done, He died For ALL SINS. HE has blotted out your sins and transgressions believe on Him today (Isaiah 44:22) ✝️God bless everyone in the name of Jesus of Nazareth All these volcanoes and earthquakes going off is a good sign that The King is coming soon!

@@redsamson5185 a large number of venezuelans are immigrating to other countries. Literally going to the next country over to do work for little pay or to be on the streets and beg because its worth it more to beg in a country with a valuable currency and a working economy. If people are moving just to be homeless in the next country over it should really tell you that many are not satisfied.

God loves you so much that He sent His Holy Son Jesus from heaven to earth, to be born of a virgin, to grow up and die on a cross for our sins, and to be put into a tomb 3 days and rise from the dead the third day, and He (Jesus) went back up to heaven. We must receive Sinless Jesus sincerely to be God's child(John 1:12).After we get saved by grace through faith in Christ, if we truly love the Lord Jesus Christ, then we will obey Jesus(John 14:15). Mark 1:15 "And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: Repent ye, and believe the gospel." Jesus said in John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments. "There's a real hell. It says in Revelation 21:8 "But for the cowardly, & unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, & immoral persons sorcerers & idolaters & all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire & brimstone..." Please sincerely receive Holy Jesus and put your true faith and trust in Him today and please repent. Will you have a Real encounter with Holy Lord Jesus and stay in a Genuine relationship with Him daily please?
