Venezuelan here. I left 5 years ago because I got a job with Aramco in Saudi Arabia. For me the only choice would be to leave the country. This also allows me to support my parents and my young brother. As some many others, I left my family, my house, my car and my memories. A few people of my family had passed away (my grandmothers for example). The worst is not the jokes of the comment section or even the people who I met everywhere I go (now living in Cairo) who make fun meanwhile they ask me about the situation (sometimes daily), the worst thing is that you don’t know if you will be able to get back in order to hug your parents again.

@promethium-1453 жыл бұрын
@@psygnozis The sanctions are NOT the main reason for Venezuela being poor. The two main reasons are: 1. Oil prices declining, which lead to brutal economic downturn, and welfare programs being harder to fund. 2. Currency is printed so often, that it's made worthless. The more currency in circulation, the less valuable each unit is. Also, as Venezuela was socialist, it consumed far more money than it generated. So when the oil money declined, their economy spiraled out of control rapidly.

Facinating, I live in New Richmond WI US. I'm so sorry for your countries situation and I have a few questions. How is anyone working or getting paid? Is it total pandamonium in the streets with militia keeping some symbalence of gang peace around the wealthy? Are Government workers and police getting paid with food? And how are wages keeping up with the inflation? Are supermarkets even opening anymore? Do you think that the presidents plan to stabilize the currency will work, or do you foresee a takeover or massive bailout from a neighboring/forign regime if the government collapses?

@alcidesyfedra13816 жыл бұрын
@@Py16777216 wow, so many questions... I'll try to answer as much as I can: how is people getting paid? The govt rises the minimum wage every let's say 2 months, and it goes to something around 25-30$ but in a few weeks the purchase power of that wage goes to around 10$/month... It's unbelievable but some people manages it to survive with that, some employers give foods bags weekly to their workers so they don't walk away, sometimes a pack of 30 eggs every Friday is enough. But you see for eg how schools are losing their best teachers, they just go to do anything in Colombia or Ecuador. Other options are: some people work as freelancers and get paid in $ (PayPal or crypto) and earning around 100$ a month is a little bit better (but not enough), a few make around 300$ (which is the minimum wage in the region) and its ok, it's fair to mention that 300$ is enough because it's used mainly to buy groceries, gas is free, you fill a sedan 10 gals tank with less than 0.01$ so basically its free (and that's another huge mistake the govt does, but you realize there's no mistake, they like chaos it's part of the plan). The same happens with electricity, water and domestic gas, the payment hasn't changed in 2 years (in a country where the inflation rate is around 3 to 5% daily, imagine how ridiculous is the bill you can pay a year of all the domestic services with just 1$, but guess what? If something breaks, you must fix it yourself, the companies are state owned and don't even have tools to work with). If I think the govt has a plan? The sad true is: this mess is part of their plan. Complicated, yes. Hope is the last thing you lose. Many of my friends, relatives, people I studied with already left the country... I want to stay and see what happens, if a miracle happens, maybe someone get rid of them, but I'm losing my faith... If I think there could be a coup or something? Maybe. Who knows? But we don't know if the outcomes will be better or worse. I have instagram, we could talk better that way: alcidesyfedra

A point omitted, however, is the massive currency black market induced by the monetary peg and restricted access to foreign currencies (dollars in particular) as per government policies. The pressure of the demand drove the black market prices to skyrocket which only worsened the inflation. Prices in shops soon became tied to the black market rates rather than the official rate as most products were imported and therefore paid for in dollars. Otherwise, good stuff as always!

What would you get if you put a bus driver like Maduro in the power that also had links to big corruption gangs? Well, certainly not a brilliant future. When capitalism fails or doesnt work so well, crooks like Chavez use the maxims of communism or socialism because they sound good and fair to the masses and when they get to the power they indeed, give away some money and free things to the poor so they stay there. But what these criminals have stolen is 100 times more than what they have given. It will be a never ending cycle. Next, after Maduro, a right wing candidate will come in place and if things dont work out, in 30 years again the left (far or moderate, depending on how bad was it) will rule and so on and so forth.

The last Venezuelan I spoke to was an Uber driver that just got his family here legally through asylum. When I told him my family is from Mexico, he told me he was worried about Mexico since they decided to vote for a socialist to be president and that Mexico has no idea what socialism will bring to its country. @@jaketapper45 I didn't understand the electoral college, until I learned how many people are easily brainwashed by the liberal mainstream media, and in a many cases, brainwashed by Fox news too. Even more alarming was that Washington Post article I read about how 16.4 million Americans believe that chocolate milk comes from brown cows. (If you don't believe me, google it) Our forefather's were well aware of states sizes and their population and how different states would have very different ideas. It would not be fair for states with the largest populations to dictate who would be president, especially when many people from different states think differently. Aside from that, the electoral college decentralizes the presidential general election and makes it very difficult for there to be election fraud. Let's remember what Barrack Obama said when he advised Trump to stop whining about the election being rigged back in 2016, "...every expert, regardless of political party, regardless of ideology, conservative or liberal, who has ever examined these issues, in a serious way will tell you that instances of significant voter fraud are not to be found..." Obama was right and Trump was wrong. We've seen what happens when there is a republican president and a republican congress: endless wars in the middle east and lots of poor dead soldiers, airmen, sailors and marines and the financial cost of the wars...and it only benefits the rich. We have also seen what happens when a democrat is president and has a democrat congress: domestic overspending, promoting laziness with welfare, making medical care worse than what it already was, and shoving alternative lifestyles promoted by a small percentage of the American people on to the entire country. We can't go too far to the left or the right. It has to be balanced. The secret to America is the US Constitution and its glorious Bill of Rights, checks and balances, but more than anything...FREEDOM! Our forefathers were geniuses and were way ahead of their time. May God continue to bless these United States of America!

@@jaketapper45 In 1976, 113 years had passed since the end of slavery in the USA. Was it right? Probably not but we did the right thing in abolishing it and had to fight a costly civil war to settle the dispute as to whether it should exist or not. That paraphrased quote you posted from that movie is what is wrong with the left. They live too much in the past. Blacks in America have had 155 years of freedom and to right to prosper. Unfortunately, very few non-artist/non-athlete blacks have done so but you can't blame that on the slave owners of the 1800s, now could you? If you want to blame someone, blame LBJ and his Great Society that made it too easy to get free food and housing and promote irresponsibility. What has resulted from these "good intentions"? Single mothers raising fatherless children that grow up to be criminals and end up filling the prisons across the nation to BECOME SLAVES AGAIN. And the black community keeps voting Democrat. Go figure. Here are more questions for you Jake? Chinese workers were treated like garbage in the 1800s too during the industrial revolution. White men that ruled the west discriminated against them and even passed anti-chinese laws. And how do chinese americans live today compared to african americans? Here is another one from the other side of the world. Nelson Mandela became the first black president of South Africa in 1994 and ended apartheid. Today, South Africa is collapsing and black people have gone on record admitting that they were BETTER OFF UNDER APARTHEID because at least when that existed they had a better economy. So Jake, minority races have been given chances to prosper in America, but it seems that blacks still haven't prospered and still want to live in the past and blame white men for everything and I strongly believe that that is EXACTLY the reason why they'll never prosper. As far as taxes go, to this day, no one in their right mind wants to keep giving their hard earned money to the government which is notorious for squandering it because it is much easier to do that when you didn't earn it. This Jake, is the reason the right is rising in Europe. I learned that by a hotel worker in Holland who told me that people are getting sick and tired of getting taxed more and more to support lazy people that just want to stay home to smoke weed collecting 900 euros a month. I kid you not. Oh, another thing, I am NOT white, I am hispanic, and first generation Mexican American.

The problem with Capitalism. Cpitcapitalism is the idea of using currency for goods and services nothing more. Capitalism creates competition that benefits both consumer and the employer. So when you are at a market you can choose the best product that fits your budget. Often people will choose the more inexpensive products that does the same thing as it's more expensive competitors. Employers (Capitalist) do the same thing when it comes to purchasing labor (employees). Why pay $33 dollars an hour plus benefits in United States . When you can pay $3 an hour in Mexico with no benefits (GMC) . Capitalism is a race to the bottom. The employee that is willing to do the same work for less pay and benefits . Wins the employer purchase. In competition or in this case capitalism their is only one winner. It is why every major corporation in United States from Pharmaceuticals weapons contractors Amazon agriculture. All receive corporate welfare in some form or another to keep their businesses going. Socialism always has to save capitalism from its inadequacies. The capitalist are about to shit the bed. The first thing a capitalist does after they crash the economy is ask for a taxes payer bailout. You know socialism! Socialism is the only reason why capitalism exist today. *Better Answer* : Chavez’s and Maduros Populist Policies. 2000, where Chavez increased oil prices, 2010, where government started overspending and messing with price controls, 2014, where they had a recession and in 2016, when Maduro detained 5 opposition activists who were trying to organize a referendum, further maintaining his power and still not doing anything to help how country. And the fact that their only major export is oil isn’t helping with matters. Also, the private sector dominates Venezuela’s economy. How does that make them socialist? The abolition of private industry is exactly whet socialism promises to abolish.

It's one in which no person is too poor to have the medicines they need to live." -Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez The meaning of peace is the absence of opposition to socialism.-Karl Marx "Democratic socialism means that we must reform a political system that is corrupt, that we must create an economy that works for all, not just the very wealthy." -Bernie Sanders The truth of socialism.. In Venezuela the guy who gets 3 million more votes gets to be president. Wish we could say the same thing about United States.United States economic growth can not happen without the Fed ( government) keeping interest rates at zero %. In the month of December alone of 2018 by raising interest rates just 3% allowing capitalist markets to stand on their own without government assistance. We have had the worst December since the Great Depression . People in Venezuela are not starving to death UNICEF and United Nations are not trying to step in Venezuela to feed people . However the genocide in Yemen where 85,000 children have died from starvation and a lack of medicine . All do to United States Saudi Arabia and Al Qaeda, that's where people are starving to death. United States has more homeless per capita then Venezuela. America has been trying to overthrow their democratically-elected government through harsh economic sanctions as an attempt to bankrupt their nation. If it wasn't for the capitalist committing genocide in Yemen buying politicians off in United States to push economically crippling sanctions on Venezuela. As well kicking the can down the road ever since the 2008 recession by forcing the government to keep interest rates at 0%. OPEC forces Nations around the world if they want to buy oil from them they have to use American dollars. If they ever dropped United States as the petrodollar for OPEC United States inflation will go through the roof worse than what is happening through economic sanctions in Venezuela. This is the main reason why we are in bed with the greatest human rights violator in existence today Saudi Arabia. All roads to 9 / 11 leads to Saudi Arabia according to the 9 / 11 Commission. Everything from funding Al-Qaeda to Saudi agents bring highjackers into United States. Both Bush and Obama administrations stopped the investigations on Saudi Arabia involvement .
I think you have that backwards in a few ways. Venezuela's oil reserves are why the US has been waging a conventional and economic war on Venezuela for decades, including the 2002 coup by Bush. How did the coup end? Thousands of poor from the barrios saved Chavez, the man they voted for. They wanted Chavez to keep improving the nation which he did and Maduro continues to do. It's like why in 1953 the oil company known as BP today requested that the MI6, Eisenhower, and the CIA oust Iran's democratically-elected Prime Minister Mosaddegh, simply because he wanted Iranians to not have their resource exploited by foreign interests for once. The coup succeeded, the West reinstated the monarch Shah, and trained his death squads. That led to the more theocratic 1979 Iranian Revolution, which led to the Soviet Union taking up on the Afghan government's offer to help save their nation (the most progressive in South Asia at the time) from theocratic muhjahideen fascists that Jimmy Carter was arming.

Muchos venezolanos juegan World of Warcraft, RuneScape, Etc.
