I think the other Dark Angels CP was the best of all the space marine one's, to me this isn't far off. The only weird thing is that you don't have a squad for the Gravis Captain/Company Master to join out of the box.

i agree, the redemptor was insane! needed to get toned down, and i think GW is sort of pulling out the vehicels. i like the idea of the Gravis captain going solo. he's really tough, and it gives you 5 units instead of attaching him, with only 4. i think this is well thought out, and will be very strong! cant wait to play with it!

You can get the Blood Angels CP if you want to go into regular 40K and have plenty of options with the Aggressors getting a Gravis Captain and throwing the Hellblasters into the Impulsor.

Bought it 3 days ago. Customizing it into a Iron Hands CP. still assembling but works really well so far. Don‘t see with everyone is hating it. 5 Units to move on the table is strong in CP and the Captain does not need a squad to attach to. With only taking half dmg he is pretty tough. A Sergeant for the Hellblasters would have been nice, so they could be used in a bigger army, but this CP is not as bad as ppl try to call it.

its a really nice box, people just love to complain/cry. most people dont even play warhammer, but are hyper focused on the rules, never actually putting models on the table. you clearly understand why this box is awesome, and sounds cool that you're able to use it for ironhands. If GW had put something like Inner circle companions in, instead of bladeguard, this wouldnt be viable, hence why going to all generic models, is a far better choice, for sales, and usability! cheers

@@WarHammerMan i mean i get the point, having the dreadnought in the old CP was bonkers - but it was bonkers cause it was overpowered. This CP might maybe not be as fun to play as my Black Templars one, having a transport and getting used to the rules around it is just nice for new players, but it works really well for kitbashing and customizing. It‘s even more fun than building the Black Templars CP - even tho that was hella fun, with all the candles and stuff. Eager to play a game with the customized Iron Hands (and sell them, hopefully afterwards) but I think I need at least this week to finish and paint them in a proper way.

i think people are losing sight of what these boxes are supposed to be. no intercessors, with 10 hellblasters, and 6 bladeguard, would be completely broken... the reason the redemptor dread was removed was balance, and that would be just as bad, if they did what you said. these boxes are made to be a starting force, that is balanced against the other CPs. i get that for existing people the value is a lot worse, i totally agree, and i think GW is doing that at least partly on purpose as well. its a sort of stealth price increase IMO

Ive always saw the Space Marine combat patrol boxes as just a bunch of different bundles. The only thing that made them the said chapter was just the upgrade sprue. I think Space wolves was the only different one. But i was army building and not specifically playing Combat Patrol.

i think its intentional. GW has specifically been removing the chapter specifics from the rules, making general detachments any space marines can use. i think they are doing the same with the combat patrols. that way, blood angels players, or imperial fists, etc can all buy it. I could be wrong, and maybe we will see it contains the chapter upgrades. but i suspect this is the direction they are going. its a good box for sure. would have been cool to see the inner circle companions or something. but i think they did the DA launch box, and thats all we will get for chapter specific stuff, at least for now ! cheers

I probably won't get this box when it comes out. I can build the force from existing units. I wonder if the old DA combat patrol will still be playable. I think you have valid points regarding balance and appeal to new players. The stratagems and special abilities will probably synergize well. Broadening the audience with generic marines also seems like an understandable goal. The shift in retail value is also in line with what GW has been doing lately with Combat Patrol boxes.

Pretty cool new Patrol. I’ll likely pick it up at some point since I still need Hellblasters and Bladeguard. And since I got the old one beforehand and still have the rules I can play either one now. It’s a win win.

nice. ya we will see if GW keeps the rules for the old patrols, and keeps selling them, or if they remove them from the store, and from the game. either way, you could potentially still play them, but if they take em out, its probably for a reason. the redemptor is a bit much in small games. id rather if GW would keep the old ones in the game, and just balance them better! not having the grenade keyword in combat patrol, makes it hard to take out tough stuff like vehicles for certain armies. its strange to not have grenades, but to have dreadnoughts lol

These new combat patrols are awful. If they are going to remove the big centerpiece models they should give you a bigger discount. I suspect we will see these going for less than $100 on eBay in a years time.

i get that people are disappointed by the new style of the CPs, but its much more about balance, and a good starting force. much less about savings, and a big centerpiece. i think this is a good box, and will play well. it will be strong, but not broken like having a redemptor. i disagree it will be selling for $100 there is a pretty clear floor under GW prices, based on MSRP, and availability of discounted models. this is about $190 in value, so it will sell for about $135, which is 15% off MSRP of the box. basically the standard value. which GW now accounts for. so to them its $190 in models for $135 its def not as good for existing players, but GW is trying to stealth increase prices, put a floor under a 2k army, and make these good for small games, not for existing players to buy and get good discounts. to which they are doing a great job, despite how us existing players like it, or dont cheers

in a chapter combat patrol i want chapter specific minis. Dark Angels have great lieutenants, deathwing and so on. This is a okish Space Marine Box. Nothing more. The old BA CP is better. If you need more standard troops maybe. If i would play DA, i would want special torsos for my brethren. Robes. Not standard minis.

I dont have a use for it. I already own everything in that box, and theyre painted (and upgraded with IF upgrades and GW bases lol). Besides, i already bought another Nachmund terrain set, a Ballistus, DKoK HQ command and Tank Commanders, a squad of DKoK, a Leman Russ, Chimera, 4x Tank Accessories sprues, and the little objective things from the new Killteam set over the last 2 weeks. Also, I only collect Gravis units for my IF now.

the combat patrols are specific groups used in the "combat patrol" game mode. so all you need is the box to play. but for any larger army the Lion is def compatible with the Dark Angels Combat Patrol. he is 300 pts. the combat patrol is about 500 pts. so with the lion, thats 800 pt army already! Azrael is also very good, and should be in any dark angels list!

the redemptor was way too strong. it needed to get pulled out. some boxes just didnt stand a chance. this box is still strong, has 5 units, and much more balanced. i get people want the dedicated/new units. but from a sales standpoint, it makes much more sense to sell a "generic" box, that can be purchased for any of the chapters. similar to the new detachments in the space marine codex. its makes the sales potential exponentially better. i'm not saying this is better than the old one, but its better for the game. it looks good to me but most people are not thinking from a balance or business standpoint

A unit of heavy intercessors may have suited better and could join the captain as another option. That aside, I love everything else about this box. Its a good array of units otherwise. But as a man with 30+ intercessors already, its a pass.

this cp looks sad for starting 4 unit sets with one of cheaper (blaude guard) ones and half of helblaster box combined with hq that dont work with units in this box and intercessors. There is still a chance that this boks will have insaide full ten helblasters and that would make this more sensible for starting player but as start of army this don't look that great. To not saying only negative thinks , this looks sensible box to play with you have mision monkeys range damage dealer and close range one combined with tanky strong in mele hq.

this box is very well balanced. it will play extremely well on the table. all the things you are saying are done for balance, and to make the box universal. 10 hellblasters would be terrible, broken, just like a redemptor. so the idea of fixing this box, with another broken box, makes zero sense my friend. this box has 5 units now, 2 have objective secured, the gravis captain is a beast, and doesnt need to lead a unit. this box is really good, a great starting army, and is also not broken. its everything good, without the negatives IMO

the rules are in the new codex. so probably when the next wave of dark angels are released, with the codex, and the inner circle/deathwing/asmodi etc. usually about 2 months from the launch box to the main release. so likely announced/released in march is my guess

i think its a nice combat patrol but its strange not to include any of the new models in it. i think the inner circle companions could have easily been included instead of the bladeguard. that being said, the blade guard are better, so its not all bad. also not including the terminators makes sense, since the space marines CP already has them. deathwing knights, might have been too powerful. hellblasters are a nice choice, because they are good, and plasma is the DA thing. so overall i think its good. removing the redemptor was key as well

This is a terrible combat patrol 😢 As a army in a box it's rough, you can't have the captain lead anything, and nothing can really deal with elites. As a model box it's also terrible, most people won't need more than 2 of these boxes so not really selling many. As a faction box it's just an insult. Dark Angels don't care much for green wing, hellbalsters are great but in units of 10... Idk. You can tell no thought was put into this other than get rid of models no one wants and throw in a lil something. 😅

i think you read too many biased reviews. this combat patrol is awesome. 1 the captain doesnt need to lead a unit, he's a beast, and then you have 5 units to do stuff, thats all good stuff. 2 bladeguard and captain can kill anything in combat, and hellblasters can kill anything with shooting, especially elites... 3 these arent meant to be purchased in mass to build a full army, its meant to start a new army with. this box is great for the faction, which is space marines, and designed to be used by any CHAPTER. now as a chapter box, dark angels its not bad, its very thematic. and finally 10 hellblasters would be over powered, the same way the redemptor was. you are confusing what you want, for what is good. you want a broken box, with a redemptor, or 10x hellblasters etc. what is good for the game, is no redemptor, and a balanced box, with no chapter specific stuff. this box is great, its an awesome combat patrol, and does everything its supposed to very well. dont confuse what you want, or what you heard, with whats good for the game/balance, and sales. cheers

If GW does BA IH, WS, RG, Sal, IF, BA, SW, and Ultra with a similar combat patrol refresh, it would be great for combat patrol players, but everyone else, not so much. I feel like most people who are upset about the dred leaving are more in the collecting/1k-2k army camp, not the combat patrol. I'm starting a DA army collection, and missed out on the Redemptor, for more marines.

what leaks? the ones that came out from Chapter master Ball-Sack were completely wrong. this isnt a leak. its literally fully printed and released by games workshop. the codex and cards were 100% printed by Games Workshop and released 100% to the community. in the deathwing assault dark angels launch box. if you want to hide under a rock for 2 months from when the launch box comes out, to when the codex is fully available, so that you can pretend like it doesnt exist, i guess thats ok. but calling this a leak is pretty ridiculous... its printed in a book, by the company that sells the stuff... i guess i need your definition of "leak" to understand, but i'm guessing that you're just poorly informed is all. cheers
