Does "Overnight stay" include staying on the surrounding islands like Murano and Burano?

Smart idea. Might need to be higher though.

No matter how much they charge I doubt money would be used to benefit city.

Is 5 euros enough to do anything?

A small coffee? Though in Venice that small coffee is probably around 15€..

I'm surprised the cost of a minute cup of coffee, doesn't deter tourists, I wouldn't go there if you paid me.

5 Euros will not discourage anyone. That's a joke. Do you think that tourists will travel there then decide 5 Euros is too high. Foolish. May end up with more visitors, it is now a more valuable site.

Exactly. These people are generally wealthy. 5e is absolutely nothing to tourists 😂

If that’s the reason, might as well say “weed out the poor people”.

Sharing nice places and historical things is wonderful. However, 5 ero is a bit too much! How about setting the limit on enter #, more organized, and zoning policy. Not all at once! Well ~ A lot of real Venicans lived outside the central area, and just came to town to greet the visitors, they said the old town was for tourists. What an ironic way to solve the problem! 😖😳 VE-NICE...RIGHT!

There are supermarkets in Venice, Maybe not in every street but they are there. You just need to look for them on google maps. If you were looking for a Saynsbury it's obvious that there isn't one because we don't have that chain in Italy
