Small correction sir... It is not popular only since last 3 years .. It is popular since 1997 in Coimbatore as far as I remember. May be even earlier.. but i have been eating this since 1997 in Cbe. This slowly reduced the road side market of Bhel puri, pani puri etc.. many school students have this habit of finishing after school tuitions and having this kaalan in Cbe before going home.. that is a ritual there :)

also crush some pani pooris on top and you can be set right in the middle of CBE with a cart :) As many have mentioned here, this has been popular for well over 20 years and there is also a Cauliflower (called Kaali) version of the same. ARC Sasi is my guy and he makes it the best.

You are always excellent sir, my husband loves some dishes that i cook because of you! When I try your dishes, I'm getting positive feedback from him sir. You are like a mother for all the people who learn to cook. Thank you so much sir. Sir please tell us how to cook "sambar" For lunch. My husband never like the way I keep sambar, I'm getting negative comments from him always, I'm not sure how to keep perfect sambar, I'm trying different ways but nothing workout. In Chennai also, Kaalan dish is famous and shops are found in many streets near railway station, parks, theatre, below all bridge atleast one Kaalan Thallu Vandi ll be there.. I asked 2-3 shop anna, ingredients used in gravy but they smiled & didn't share 🧐 Thank you Sir 😂
