Honestly after seeing The penguin. Thats what I think these sony movies should have been dark and rated R films that actually make the protagonists VILLAINS. I can understand making Venom an anti hero cause he has been in some comics i just think going the route that Joker 2019 and The penguin did would be so much more interesting, I especially think that this would have improved Morbius instead of that film going the way it did. Another thing i find funny is that in all the marketing for these movies they say stuff like the line between hero and villain will be blurred, the world has enough superheroes and on the Kraven posters they've got villains aren't born they're made.

Can you imagine if instead of Venom sacrificing himself to the Xenophages he died in an epic final battle with Knull. His arc throughout the movie could have been him overcoming the struggle that he was only created as a weapon for Knull's use that only brings death and destruction (this would actually work well after the first two films given that Venom killed the SWAT team in the first movie and his actions created Carnage) and by the end he confronts Knull showing he has no hold over him proudly declaring himself as Venom The lethal protector who was given something greater than power or world domination he had a friend who stuck with him through thick and thin a man who gave him a true purpose. You could even have Venom use this to inspire the other symbiotes to stand up to Knull.

One big reason as to why this film sucks is the fact that the writer for all three Venom films (who's NEVER directed a film before) directed this one. It's like Dark Phoenix with Simon Kinberg. You're depending the end of the franchise on a first-time director. At least with the first two films, the directors had other films under their belts and are all-around pretty talented. They still had times to shine as directors, despite the Sony interference. The director for this film, however, isn't even a good writer. She wrote Fifty Shades of Grey. Dude. Great video, btw.

Ok, I will actually have to disagree with you on one thing, and that’s Knull’s imprisonment being bad Knull being imprisoned by the symbiotes isn’t just something this movie makes up, it’s established to have happened in the comics after Thor broke the connection between Knull and the symbiotes and then they all jumped him and imprisoned him. It’s also the explanation for the prison, as that whole planet is apparently made of symbiotes using their combined strength to hold him at bay. If it takes a whole planet of them to hold Knull, then it’s not unimpressive on his part that he was overpowered by that many symbiotes I also disagree with an army of symbiotes not being capable of taking on the Xenophages, we saw Venom manhandled 4-5 of them in the climax (which I thought was bs but it happened) and it is established that certain symbiotes are more powerful than others (albeit in a very choppy & underdeveloped way like with Carnage, “it’s a red one!”🙄). Given that information, I think it’s likely that there were just enough of the more powerful symbiotes to deal with the Xenophages in order to win the battle Other than that tho I agree, this movie was bottom stench

Jesus christ the fucking comics explaining it doesn't mean the movie makes sense. In the comics the Symbiotes bonded with benevolent beings and they grew their own consciousness to realize that Knull needed to be imprisoned. In the movie this explanation is not there. The Symbiotes have no reason to imprisoned Knull because they hadn't bonded with the humans yet so they just betrayed Knull for no reason

the xenophage have NOTHING to do with Knull in the comics. Which is why them being some sort of attack dogs for knull make no sense as you and many others have pointed out. In the comics the equivalent they could have were dragons but I guess CGI monster mess was more suitable.

Easily the biggest thing that drives me mad about this movie is how "Let there be Carnage" ends with the implication that Patrick had bonded with the Toxin Symbiote, who has an absurd amount of potential in which he could have become allies with Venom throughout the film. All of this setup just for him to be killed off with a throwaway line and be replaced with what I'm assuming is Lasher, as they never even bother giving out their names.

Honestly, regardless of the flaws of the trilogy, one thing I will say about these movies is that these had quite the potential to be much more than what we were given, if the right script writers and some proper direction as well as some actual effort was put into the development of each movie and planned them from beginning to end . . . The Venom Trilogy would've resulted into something way better than what we got, maybe they should've gone the Penguin TV show approach and I know someone already should've commented this . . . The only good thing from these movies is the fact that Tom Hardy's performance as Eddie and Venom are prettu good . . . However, if given some actual proper direction and a good script from the first movie to the recent one, we could've gotten something way better . . .

@s.k.4289 Another thing I will add to your critique is that it's a massive plot hole that Venom is capable of fighting off or even prevailing in the fight against the Xenophages for even a second when he's supposedly the "weakest" of his race as stated on prior installments, and the fact that the other supposedly "strongest" symbiotes that were in Area 55 at the third act end up just managing and I counted 1 HIT landed on the Xenophages and then in mere seconds later end up becoming easy submissive prey food for the Xenophages . . . I mean as shown with the clip of Mulligan's symbiote trying to hold one of the Xenophages and immediately got knocked out and then straight up slurped up like noodles . . . So yeah, Venom in various occasions in this particular movie should not have survived the encounters with the Xenophage . . . If the writers were consistent

Okay so this doesn't apply to you because you genuinely made great criticism on this movie, but I just need to say... The Venom trilogy is one the best definitions of people hating things solely because they have zero art understanding, leading to them latching on to the flaws while never acknowledging the things each film does genuinely very well. No, I won't deny that they all have some aspects weighing them down. Some more heavily than others. Some of the positives I’ll give credit to this movie is that the Post Malone song I Had Some Help made it into the end credits and even the ending of Maroon 5’s Memories at the last scene of Eddie Brock not forgetting Venom but yea it was pretty a bit forgettable never heard another Post Malone song in a Sony Marvel movie like that since Into the SpiderVerse
