I have used my VentureHeat "Heated Surfing / Diving Undersuit" for a couple years now & until one of the batteries stopped taking a charge, I loved it. Now that the 1 year warranty is over, I need to replace a battery. I thought I could take advantage of their Labor Day sale. The email I received from Venture Heat specifically says "LABOR DAY SALE 20% OFF SITEWIDE". Nowhere in the email or website does it mention that batteries and accessories are excluded. After I could not get the discount to apply (and yes, I clicked on the discount link & found the battery listed on the site.), I called their customer service & was basically told, "Sorry, you are out of luck. Batteries are not included." I'm disappointed in the incredibly poor customer service.

Couldn't find the video of the other vest you mentioned you also review. I found out that Santi is another brand, I have googled and can't find much information of what the difference is between Santi and Venture. By any chance did you review more vests?

Thank you for this very detailed and objective review. I've been looking at active heating systems to extend the length of my drysuit dives in 40°F Great Lakes water. Originally, I was focused on Santi but as a sidemount diver, attaching an external battery to the crotch strap and routing a connecting cable to my chest drysuit inflator valve doesn't feel like a clean configuration. This resolves that issue. I was concerned about having batteries inside the suit causing burns but what I'm learning is that the burns are usually caused from non-waterproof motorcycle vests with broken heating elements. Compared to Santi, DUI, Light Money, etc., the Venture Heat appears to be more practical and slightly more affordable.

If I use this in a drysuit, do I need other garments besides the thin base layer in 72F, 65F, 55F water? I am asking this because I want to reduce the amount of weight I need to carry and be more agile in water.

As it is the torso and upper body I would think a layer on your legs would still be a good idea. I used it under a drysuit in 48 degree water and had to put it on the medium setting. Was perfect but I did still have a fleece one piece underneath. Hope that helps. If you dive a lot in cold water this is a perfect addition. We do have a demo for sale at 50% off if you are interested.
