Venus flytraps need nutrient free soil thats why they eat insects

This looks AWESOME. I created a carnivorous terrarium as well. I used a Biorb though. It circulates fresh air through it, humidity, and self-watering. It is kinda a close it and forget about it. I leave it open sometimes to allow bugs and sorts to get in it. But I love this setup as well.

so I see this and my idea to keep the isopods inside is to make a little screen door and open it up to clean, feed and landscape when needed.

So the isopods were food for the flytraps? When I had a couple of VFT's I found it tricky to feed them. The best I could do was catch some live ants from outside and drop them onto the plants. This gave me the idea of starting a home ant colony and somehow combining it with a terrarium with a load of carnivorous plants. This way I would only have to feed the ants and then the little fellas would in turn unwittingly feed themselves to the plants. A nice little semi eco system in a way. Has anyone else tried this?

I thought that coco fiber was bad for flytraps as it has to much nutrients. Did your flytraps do well in this long term. I have tons of coir and would like to use that as well but don't want to kill my plants.

I’d love to see an update, is the Venus flytrap still alive? And are you trimming the creeping Jenny so it doesn’t overtake everything?
@christopher_scott2 жыл бұрын
So unfortunately, no update. This is a hanging terrarium and somebody was in the room and bumped it and knocked it up against the wall and it cracked it. I have the Venus fly trap growing in another container as well as the creeping Jenny. I plan to make a new terrarium with these plants in the near future.

@@christopher_scott thank you! I have a Venus flytrap and i want to put it in a terrarium but I’m worried because so many people advise against it, your videos and a couple others have inspired me to try it though. Thanks for the video!!
