Venus’ forehand is SO strong. Honestly it’s insane how much pace she can get on that wing. I remember the days her FH was her weaker wing, but that was the early 2000s she really has evolved her game over the years. She has become quite a refined, more technically sound player.

Venus was fighting injury, fatigue, and this slow ass surface. Amazing hitting from both players, especially the backhands (rare). Nice to hear Mary Pierce on commentary.

So ridiculous that Caroline beat her in the final. I’ll never understand that one. Caroline is a mediocre as they come.

Venus was injured and fatigued in the Final. Caroline W also played some of her best tennis and went on to win the Australian Open a few months later.

@ i predicted Caroline would win the 2018 AO given Serena’s absence and a lack of an heir to the throne. But still, Venus should have demolished her like 6-1 6-2.
