The polybrute is probably the most complex synth of it’s cloth lol. So many modulation routing options! I get the drift though, just had to poke a little fun on that.

Man my KZbin algorithm is so fucked rn, I literally never get recommended stuff I’m subscribed to that I really enjoy anymore like VT, benn, other high quality educational videos etc, I literally just get spammed with culture war bullshit and KZbin drama. I literally had to search VT because I feel starved of decent content and low and behold there’s 3 unwatched videos I had no idea about. Wtf

Great video but when it finished I almost went to load up Battlefield that I haven't played in months. 😅 I'm going to implement a lot of this. I tried using a dumb phone for 6 months. It was really hard, so I like the idea of restricting what your smartphone can do.

That reverb killed it for me. It sounded really nice and slightly unique with the stereo widener/delay but once the reverb came on, it just sounded like every other ambient washed out reverb sound heard a countless amount of times before.

"One person telling their story about how your work changed their life, is worth more than anything that other forms of success could bring, whether it's now or after your gone, you might not even be around to witness it" WOW man your gonna make me cry that really was what I needed to hear thank you! I've been trying to reach 1,000 subs for 4 years now and I'm still creating independently, but it is so worth it because I believe the world needs more artists that care about what they put out into the world. Thank you for your message.

Second time I’m watching this video and I’ve gotta say how grateful I am for you making these videos; along with all the work you put into them. It’s been beyond helpful and inspiring and is helping me finally get off my ass after an 8+ year creative desert

Noone cares for anything anymore. People only eat up what algorithms recommend, algorithms recommend what the most marketing money has been put into. It's not about creating something that speaks to the heart anymore, it's not about talent, not about hard work and putting your soul into it. Its about pleasing the algorithm, nothing else. AI will soon overtake every aspect of art because it's more efficient at doing that. Music is dead and soon we will all be as well. So do whatever the fuck the want but don't ever expect this art thing you are committing your existence to ever return anything, don't expect anyone to ever give a fuck about what you are doing. Thats not how it works. Especially if you are very driven and talented and doing your own unique thing. Algorithms will hate it, never recommend it to anyone and if you are not born rich or very very lucky you will most likely never reach anyone with your art.

In a society where being a consumer is going to be way more necessary than being a productive individual, this kind of mentalities will be held by a minority. Specially when the AI revolution starts to change everything.

3 years later and I stumble into VT’s Stochas Demo, laughing because it tickled my meat bag brain. This is a really interesting sequencer though and I think I may try it with my midi mess room stuff. Thanks, Cameron.

I will say this: I appreciate people who use AI to make jokey stuff and memes. I love me a good laugh. You'll never get me to stop liking the bikini bottom boys, for instance; but in the case of using it to replace real music, that's where I draw the line.

My biggest problem with AI music generators and art generators is, it essentially steals from creators worldwide, new and old, by searching a huge database for things that I've already been created, and essentially stitching them together. For instance, I was using an AI music generator website last night, and one of the songs that the robot spat out sounded suspiciously like the late Teddy pendergrass. And that's how I know they pull from other sources.

5:43 because I would much rather have real music, authentic music, created by humans who actually know what they're doing. AI is just that, artificial. It's also not perfect. I guess this is very similar to the analog versus digital argument. I can see both sides, but in that regard, you can't have one without the other (analog and digital). I've been listening to AI generated parodies, as well as parodies that use AI generated voice changers (a technology that I think is cool as hell, by the way), And it still sounds fake. You can hear the digital artifacts. I'm not necessarily an audiophile, but I am a musician who has spent a lot of time creating music, and I can definitely tell the difference. And that's why I prefer to hire humans.

The plug ins are popular because of price point. Those that have the resources for analog hardware have a different perspective of course. The argument comes up that the plugin/VA 's are just as good as analog but nkw im awae thats the price point speaking, not the actual creative.

2 questions is all you need: Does it serve a function? If no: Does it make me happy? If no: remove it And if yes to function: is that function necessary or does it improve my life in a meaningful way? And if yes to happiness: Is this the only way to gain happiness or can I replace it? It's pointless to change something if that change leads to additional stress or makes your life worse in the long term. And dont fall into the trap of toxic self improvement.

Hi! I was actually researching Arturia keylab ii . I notice you still use it! Is it still your go to key bed after 5 years ? My main concern is : not too heavy , and very velocity sensitive ( and quality ) . Thanks ! Ps I bought a expressive e osmose some months ago and am crazy about it for expression , not so much for regular piano sounds / chords

I don't think this is a streaming service issue, but more of an audience issue. It's easy to blame Spotify and other streaming services, but they're just catering to what *their* audience wants - commoditised music; music on-demand for background/easy/convenient listening. This audience does not use streaming services for a deep and meaningful experience, they use it to stream back-to-back tracks at the click of a button without a passing thought. Streaming service algorithms are built purely around catering for (and retaining) *this* audience. And don't forget: this audience likes things that are familiar to them and require low attention span. Nothing new, nothing complex, nothing groundbreakingly different. If you're looking to commercialise your music via streaming services, then you have to cater for *their* audience. If, however, you're looking to break the mould, bend genres and shape the future, then mainstream streaming channels don't seem like the right starting approach to finding *your* audience. Brilliant point raised at 16:20 about the John Mellencamp approach; making music that conforms to get you discovered, then write what you want once you've found and secured your audience. There's also an issue with there being too many musicians who think they can retain all of their artistic integrity and generate a great income from music without having to make any sort of compromise at all (and then blaming the streaming services), but this is perhaps starting a different rant...
