I’m an American, but I love all the British patriotic songs, especially the ones from WW II. How could anyone not admire a people that fought years longer than we did? And for too long she stood alone against Hitler. Those songs have such spirit, and show such strength and determination. Sometimes I tear up, because they touch me so.

@@doctorabutros Doc, I'm from Texas as well, like the lad above...have dear friends in Brooklyn. Isn't it great we're old enough, or history-sensitive enough to appreciate Vera Lynn and that time. I have a challenge for anyone to take up: purchase a Balsa, stick and paper Spitfire flying model Aircraft Kit. Putting it together and flying it around the patch does something which starring into a phone will never do. Building confidence is just one of the benefits. It will at least, give one some vague idea of the effort it took to build one Spitfire.. but this is what we did do as kids in the 50's.. play outside in the Sun, build models and read books. TV ruined a lot of that.

You said it, mate. It's not just there in Great Britain but also happening here in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil, France, Germany, etc. We're all being hit on the head and told by the critical race theorists that we're all the bad guys, that our histories are bad, and our heroes were bad, as they try to rewrite our histories in order to take over the future. George Orwell had already predicted how the tyrants take power by changing history, "The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history." In 1984, he also wrote, "He who controls the past controls the future. He who controls the present controls the past." Sound familiar? The telescreens are on the wall! They're also in the iPhones, the cars, the TV's. If Bezos, Musk et al. have their way, they'll be on chips inside your head, too.

Encompasses a mind set whereby civilization, prosperity and notions of individual rights were brought to the world, not with a vainglorious arrogance, but with certainty of the mission, a mission which outlasted tyrannies of all sorts.. Dame Vera captures the motive force of generations in this rendition...we need remember that over 2 billion people alive today are directly the beneficiaries of that mission, with a couple billion more indirectly touched.........the Empire stood for something in this world....and it was the world that benefitted far more than Britain ever did....

Vera is the same generation as my mother who died last year aged 99. With German origin born in today Lithuania there are so many things which are hard to remember and to find similar situations now 2 or 3 generations later. With my mother I had the chance to visit in 2000 all previous known places in today's Lithuania, think something also in 2022 counts especially with current threats there. Vera is my idol from that generation, something my mother could never forward to the next generations in some way, also she liked to dance in the 40's until forbidden, etc.. Vera now my hero to remember from a different perspectice, unfortunately the war diary extends until today in Ukraine with our family. Thanks for reading this!

An absolutely brilliant rendition of this wonderful song. Nobody but nobody will ever sing it like Dame Vera Lynn did. This more than any other, will always be the song she is remembered for.

Kinda makes me wonder, how Harry would feel watching this now. After letting Meghan talk him into walking away from all this...Spine-tingling performance. Almost makes me regret July 4, 1776,, :-)

I am half English, half German. I live in Holland, precisely between England and Germany. All three countries are losing their identity; all three Germanic lands, age-old bastions of Western European culture, are being islamised, arabised and africanised. It makes me very sad. I pray every day that the English, Dutch and Germans - indeed all of western Europe - will rise up against the corrupt traitors who have sold us out and agreed to kill off our once-glorious race.

Land Of Hope And Glory Edward Elgar - Land of Hope and Glory Mother of the Free How shall we extol thee Who are born of thee? Wider still, and wider Shall thy bounds be set; God, who made thee mighty Make thee mightier yet! Dear Land of Hope, thy hope is crowned God make thee mightier yet! On Sov'ran brows, beloved, renowned Once more thy crown is set Thine equal laws, by Freedom gained Have ruled thee well and long; By Freedom gained, by Truth maintained Thine Empire shall be strong Thy fame is ancient as the days As Ocean large and wide: A pride that dares, and heeds not praise A stern and silent pride Not that false joy that dreams content With what our sires have won; The blood a hero sire hath spent Still nerves a hero son
