I love Vera, her taste has always been her own refinement; every single collection has featured an artistic quality that borders on a witchy/ethereal feeling which definitely lends itself to an aura of independence and power that speaks volumes on her inherent feminist ideals. The models are not apologetic for being thin; they own it because they WORK on it. They'd rather the dress fit unlike the wrapper on a piece of butter. They don't need validation on the whole bs that obese is empowerment. Dedication and conviction is empowerment. None of Vera's collections have been vulgar in the sense of rotten sexuality, which the gay male designer seems to favor; her clothing has always been sensual, earthy, and actually wearable for the working woman. I believe her to be the Coco of this era; it takes a woman to design something a woman would wear.

personally, I think this was beautiful. yes the models were insanely skinny, almost unhealthy looking, but take it from an artistic point of view. this isn't about setting impossible standards, but about presenting a style, a collection. the way vera wang decided to present it, it's just all so her. the morbid, eerie, lonely look is something very different when it comes to weddings since most of us would expect a happy energetic bride, and this is what wang aims for: something different.

We would have been aware regardless, Vera is obviously a front runner in bridal. I hardly remember the dresses at all and only the creepy feeling that it gave me. I would stay FAR away from her dresses after seeing that. I wouldn't want to experience anything close to those brides. This ad screams "DON'T GET MARRIED!" It will be the ruin of you...

Tyler I don't think she meant they are in misery because they are skinny...they look like they are in misery regardless. Size put aside...this video looks like these women are tortured...pale, ratty stringy hair, white eyelashes, the over all look is something from a horror movie. I would think they are miserable because they really just all want to be lesbians and are being forced into arranged marriages with men, so they refuse to eat, sleep or bath and just wander around in a delirium until their daddies give in and don't make them marry...at which time the sun will shine again and they will be full of health and vigor. If I wasn't already married, I sure would think twice after seeing this video. Its fine that you like the artistic quality of it and all that, and its fine the girls are thin. But this makes marriage seem twisted and like a death sentence. Its like you wonder if your future husband will lock you up in a dungeon somewhere.

Tyler Exactly. I shoot art photography and my girls range from 00-24 and I'm sick of the double standard. I watch this video and size doesn't occur to me but everyone else is up in arms. Every body needs to stop judging. If people don't like the dresses don't buy them. If they don't like the ads, don't watch them but don't criminalize someone for their size.

It was difficult to notice the dresses when my attention was drawn by such unhealthy looking models wearing them. I'm going elsewhere to look for images of the new collection.

Honestly, I'm not usually one to say this. But there is no way I could look at those girls without thinking there is some sort of mental health problem related to eating disorders that is occurring with them. The dresses were lovely and I appreciate the artistic approach that has been taken with this line. But, those sunken cheek bones, scaly fingers, dull complexions, sunken eyes and emaciated bodies really made me fear. I acknowledge that some girls are really just naturally thin and have a small frame, I acknowledge that the modelling industry prefers girls to who are smaller and taller. I'm not skinny shaming in the slightest. I don't know whether it's the lighting or the way these models are presented but something does not look right here. As someone with a psychologist for a mother it's easy to spot the look of anorexia or bulimia and it's clearly show here. It's a worry.

I like it. I know it's not traditional but I'd rather watch this then watch a boring video where all the girls are happy, at gorgeous beaches, with their impossibly good looking man. I like that it's a video for wedding dresses but there are no men present, they're all stranded, but still managing to dance and laugh here and there. Idk I'm attracted to this for its artistic values.
