We finally completed the frame and engine assembly of our Land Rover Discovery 3 TDV6, which we fully restore to to its original glory. In this episode, we assemble the clutch, put the engine in the frame and complete the remaining detail assembly. Looks like this car will run again like a Toyota.
We are not liable for any harm you do to your car, your engine, your surroundings or yourself. Use the information given in this video at your own risk.
Thanks for watching,

One thing to put in your recovery kit is a sand anchor. A couple we knew took a trip around Australia, yep all the way a very determined couple. They got stuck in the middle of nowhere when they took a trip to a shearing station, when leaving they followed directions on a shortcut and crossing a small shallow river got stuck in soft sand. They tried all conventional pulls, there where no trees to attach to, just sand in the area, they walked back to the shearing station 15 kilometres and managed to get pulled out by a Toyota! They said they would add a sand anchor to their recovery kit.

That LR3 is going to be better than new when its finally back together, Vera is going to be so pleased, very entertaining and educational too, im a good home mechanic but i wish i had the attention to detail and patience you too have. i too made my own clutch alignment tool on my Myford lathe for my Defender td5 clutch replacement, always handy to have a lathe.

0:24 - I worked at JLR for 3.5-ish years, and 2.5 of those was in the pre-PS (program start/sausage machine) bit, and the service guys were always asking to "consider service" or keeping things accessible"...so im not surprised something clashes, as by then, the tooling is already done (this mount looks like a diecasting).

Fantastic work, every time I see you work with the body off I am a little jealous because I scrapped a Landrover when I should have fixed it with the body off, everything is so much easier when there is access . It’s not worth the cost to pay a mechanic to struggle around these engines with the body on. You are very clever to do that and I’m sure many other people will now do the same instead of scrapping their cars.

Those alu-rubber gaskets for the AC system was used on a lot of GM products and are prone for springing a leak on the Hi-side at the compressor. I've recently replace mine on my 2000 Buick with only 69K miles. To prevent that from ever happening again I've use a product called Nylog Gasket /Thread Sealant by Refrigeration Technologies. It was a recommendation by another youtuber.

Not wanting to be one of those “ desk top mechanics “ but I hope you tested the thermostat out first before installing it? I’ve had two OEM ( supplied same part to LR ) thermostats for my D2. The first was stuck open, the second did not open enough (3mm opening vs original 8mm opening ), I’m waiting for the third from Paddock in UK to see if I can get a good one? I wish I could use the original that is 25 years old but the number of heat cycles it’s had permits me not to use. I sign of the modern manufacturing race to bottom! Cheers Peter
