For a while now I have had a small amount of oil pooling ontop of the oil cooler on my D4. We know its not leaking oil but the tech said it is likely to be vapour from around all the hoses in and around the throttle body. Could the 5w30 be getting so thin it escapes past seals? The cooler is good and the plastic filter housing is not cracked. MY2010.

The defender is a cool car....however, not something id ever ever ever own outside of warranty, they are an absolute joke in terms of reliability 😂

You need to give Vera special therapeutic treatment. Rebuild an engine and renew almost nothing. Put perfectly usable belts back on. Yes check and measure but if within spec, even if it looks scruffy put it on. She might want tranquilisers but will see that the resulting vehicle can work fine for years without throwing money fitting new parts (which are probably pre broken anyway) at it.

I would NOT have bought that engine. Two-hour drive or not - I would have turned around.

Hello from Latvia. The last time, I just replaced the alternator with a new OEM Denso, it's cheap and not worth gambling with wrecks... No, because I screw up disassembling that. You can easily write an electronically signed criminal complaint to pasts at vp.gov.lv for a fraud in German or English, if the price was above 50 EUR. Let our police move their ass, that would be fun. And dealing with LIN bus wiring issue is a real pain... Especially when it gets issue only when engine is hot.

I have to send you a picture of my discovery 4 2013 which I fabricated the body front and rear removed upper and lower tailgate and fitted defender door an hand made front wings an bonnet the car now looks just like a new defender 130 took me a year to do but all by myself body an paint 😮 just because I could do this type of work and haven't got 100k to by one I'm over in UK and always look forward to you evey Sunday keep up the good work 😅

11:52 oh FFS, I had a similar thing when I wanted to quickly and cheaply replace one of common rail injectors in my van. instead of buying a reconditioned replacement I went for a "used, checked and fully functioning" one for half the price. it came with actual DIRT on the fuel inlet 🙄 thanks to ebay at least you don't have to argue with those crooks. you just return the faulty item at their cost no questions asked.
