You are a good neighbor to help like that. I help friends when they ask. They don't ever seem to ask so much that it is a burden. What you all did to this vehicle is a bit beyond a six pack of beer.

Wow. This looked like a massive job. Great team work as always. No wonder it was an hour long video. You looked like you were working harder on this car than you do on your own. So much kudos to you. Also rather happy i am planning on changing my clutch on my bmw E90 rather than my L320, hoping its a lot easier than this looked.

So, you thought you had got away with it! Thought no-one will notice? But we are so rivetted to your content that we see everything. Including putting the nut onto the pipe the wrong way round @21:21. I find it comforting that you are human like your subscribers. What fine work and many thanks for showing how it can be done. Greetings from Birmingham UK. :)

The crankcase breather with the nasty foam filter inside was replaced by a newer design which didn't need replacing/cleaning. There's also a tiny little filter down by the turbo which everyone forgets about. Sadly, it's unlikely that either of these two items will fix the egr fault. I know of at least 2 Freelanders and an MG ZT which had the TD4 engine which ran with a small ball bearing in the vacuum hose (so the ecu thought the valve was being opened) and no fault code was generated.

Yes, transmissions on transverse engines need no pilot bearing in the flywheel. I guess they only put it in to allow to center the clutch.

Well done guys! Our Freelander did nearly 400k miles before its auto box died😭2.0 BMW diesel, so yes it was very reliable and a Land Rover! However my 110 did nearly 800k miles and it was powered by a 300tdi so I guess all the desktop mechanics would say that’s down to Land Rover reliability issues!!! 🙄

Your husband tells you not to talk but when he torques he just says "click, click". Seriously , well done both of you. You saved this old vehicle from becoming cans for soup. A professional workshop would have charged much more for the repair than the vehicle is worth on paper, if indeed you could find someone to do the repair. I certainly hope that the video gets enough views to compensate for your time and effort. Berlin is still standing.

Christian those cracks form here in Canada the federal government has put a recall on the steering knuckles because of cracking and as you know we don't have 200 km/h highways in Canada we top out at 110km/h so I am glad your not driving it. I wouldn't want to find out you were killed or hurt because of bad engineering. Tata should be ashamed to be involved in such a bad failure area.
@Vera_and_Christian
@Vera_and_Christian 4 сағат бұрын
👍👌The recall in Canada has been there before we got involved with our L405. New is now that the US has also issued a recall for 16500 cars, with only 12 reported failures, and no reported injuries. Nobody had to be seriously injured for the government to take the issue seriously. Our update video will be out in the next couple of weeks. 🙋‍♀️

@@Vera_and_Christian i am glad Land Rover is takjng care of you. they have a bad reputation for reliability in Canada and the usa but I would rather trust a landrover or Range Rover over that terrible Chevrolet you rented when you were on vacation. at least I know i could get 160,000km without a engine failure on the Landrover i cant say the same for that Chevy. they eat camshafts and valve lifters and throw chips into the oil destroying the bearings.

I only own toyota's because i didnt know landrovers were so easy! love you guys, keep going with the videos

I’ve done some testing in my TDV6 3.0 D4 200k km it’s very worrying to see that above approx 96c coolant temperature the oil pressure drops off drastically. E.g towing up an incline in 25c weather the coolant temp can rise to 104c easily, therefore so does oil temp which rises above 120c resulting in 10psi oil pressure @2000rpm. The new uprated oil pump makes a 2-3psi difference if that… Now the original PWM Viscous fan was on the way out, this was a contributing factor but is not the whole problem. This fan does not fully engage until 107-108c due to the PWM control. I now run an uprated oil pump, 10W-40, new fan, a custom thermostat (opens at like 85c) and a Redarc oil pressure +oil temp monitoring gauge. Just need to trick the PWM signal to fan now or reprogram the ECU so this will work correctly for maintained high loads or off-roading here in Australia. I honestly believe this is the main contributor to the destruction of these engines.

Christian. Twice my 2012 LR4 has started to shudder while driving 55-65 MPH. Afterwards there is a very distinct odor of burnt rubber. Today when it happened I pulled over turned the emergency brake on and off again and so far it's doing ok. I took it to my shop after the first time and they couldn't find anything amiss. What might be my issue and what is the remedy? Cheers from Texas.

If a German holds a torque wrench made in Germany, then they add a .004% accuracy to the torque value and negate any torque changes created by extensions, etc. If using a Chinese made torque wrench a German increases accuracy by a factor of1.5. I was wondering why you were able to use the rattle gun in the dark, but then it's for a neighbour and that makes sense. It's a shame that the North American version used the engine they did, which failed frequently and the company making them went bankrupt, Italian if I recall correctly?
