Honestly there ARE some good and badass scenes in the show, but thats about 15-20% of the whole show, mainly all the scenes where there is Henry Cavill as Gerald and hes actually fighting monsters, the rest of the show is straight ass slop, so i recom to just see the Witcher show best scenes compilation on YT or something like that. You don't really need context for those.

Yeah, the Netflix show is... a show for sure. Like others say, you should probably stop after the first season. The Witcher is based on a series of books by the Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The world is built on a mixture of Slavic, Celtic, and Germanic mythologies and folklore. The vibe is also often heavily based on Poland's (or this area of Europe in general) historic tidbits. CD Projekt Red is also Polish, so they got it right with the vibe and everything because they're just familiar with it. The Netflix show not only changed many characters and plot points, but as a Pole myself, I can tell you that it very much feels like something made by Americans who probably couldn't even point Poland on the map. (No offense).

Dude like everyone said. You are in for a treat. I envy that you will experience the game for the first time. Though I must say spoiler free that Witcher 3 is one of the most immersive games i played. I have finished it 10 times since it came out. Every time a different game. The options and outcomes of the game are almost endless. Or at least it looks that way. In my opinion in this game the outcome of the choices are more complex than those of Cyberpunk 2077. I think everyone would like to see you record and experience it first hand. Just so you know it's a game that i recommend attention and not Speedrunning through. Also with the next gen update it got it looks even more like heaven itself. The only tip I should give you is that the meditation thing it explained in one of the trailers that is a feature of the game only works at certain difficulty the 1st and the 2nd.Not in the rest 2 difficulties after that. Though I think the 3rd difficulty (out of all 4) is the most balanced despite that. Also Witcher 2 is magnificent just older. Witcher 1 enhanced (not on launch) will also be a favorite of mine. So to answer a thought of yours. In my opinion cd project red always had it in them. Witcher 3 will always be a masterpiece beside Skyrim. Both ahead of their time. Good digging. I hope we see you experience Geralts relationship with other characters like Ciri but especially Yen and Triss 😄

Playing with polish dub is incredible. Of course, start with first game if you care about whole story and lore. The Witcher is not 18+ because there is violence in the game. It's for adults because it discusses serious themes like racism, suicide, rape, sex. For a fantasy world, it is very realistic and harsh.

I'd say if you really wanna get into the lore, start with the books. But of course that's a lot to read. I think playing The Witcher 3 first is just fine, too, don't get me wrong. Of course, having read the books first made the story of the game much more to my heart. The books describe the whole origin of Ciri and her relationship to Geralt.

About magic, there is alot of magic in this world, there are sorcererers and sorcereress, but witcher are not one of them. They are mutatants made by potions and very dengerous rituals, only 1 out of 10 survived this "trial of grass". Witcher can use potions(deadly for normal human) to improve metabolism, regeneration etc. and use signs, simple magic like fireball, kinetic shield etc.

The whicher games are so good because they are set in well established lore that is based in a fictional world that resembles medieval central Europe. It captures the spirit of the time and ads monsters and magic that have logical explanation. Every character feels real because he is not a lump of random character features but a product of his environment in a particular moment in time in his life. Take for example the first trailer. When you know what is happening in it you appreciate how many things are there to be deducted. The soldiers are Nilfgardian. They are executing the orders to punish a girl who has been convicted of “looting, robing the dead and canibalism”. She is Temerian. Nilfguard is waging a war against Temeria and has conquered it. The men of Temeria are either dead or in hiding. The land is ravaged by war the vilages inhabited by women, children and elderly plundered of food by the invading army. As back then people prepared food supplies for winter. Sending most of the men to war would inevitably cause a lower food production. In addition armies would often take food as there was no one to enforce any laws or protect those behind. This brought hunger. Large battlefields were littered with the dead and wounded. Villagers would go into these battlefields to look for loved ones and loot corpses of any valuable possessions they could resell. In many cases they would find dying soldiers they would kill because there was no way of helping them anyway. In extreme cases the bodies were used as food for the starving people that had no choice but to resort to canibalism. The Nilfguardians that now controlled the land inhabited by the women, children and elderly of their enemies that have killed many of their comrade. Both sides have a deep hatred towards each other but one side has zero power and has to submit to whatever fate the invaders have installed. The invaders have to enforce the law to prevent society breaking down but they have no love or comparison for the people and often overstep their authorities with zero consequences as they are the law. The woman did commit the crimes she was a use of. The punishment is harsh but even while executing this punishment the soldier show unnecessary sadistic brutality (most likely fuled by what they have seen in battle). They want to torture her and make her suffer because they can and no one is there to stop them and no one will ever know or care or do anything about because she is only a present girl cough in the middle of a war forced to ravage three corpses and eat the dead to survive. Her fate was brought by the invaders that now hate her for the crimes she is resorted to commit to survive. The whicher works for money ridding their world of monsters that humans have no idea how to deal with. Whicher are much older then ordinary humans and as such are wiser as they have lived a longer life. They know that their involvement will not fix humanity or change history. That war is horrific and the scene we witness in this video is one of million similar occurrences that are an effect of war. Saving this girl will save one girl and not change anything in the grand scale of things. Additionally getting fought killing the “new authority” might get the Whicher into very serious exe trouble as the soldiers were executing “the order of the emperor”. Preventing his order to be executed is basically going against his authority. This is why Geralt feels initially there is nothing he can do, but internally he is furious at the injustice this girl faces. He hopes of the horse and while initially grabbing his whicher sword holders it back as using it to kill Nilfguardian soldiers would indictate a Whicher has killed the soldiers as remnants of oils might be found on the bodies. Instead he opts for a dagger a common weapons of thieves and bandits that consist of deserted Temerian soldiers that cannot return back home, have to survive and hate the Nilfgardians. Using this weapons would console the perpetrator as the murder would look like robbery perpetrated by Temerian soldiers turned bandits. The scene ends with Gerald killing everyone but one soldier who asked the Whicher “what he is doing” (why is he killing the men that gave him a job and payed him his money that he personally has no beef with). Geralt the Whicher answers “killing monsters” which is what Whichers are trained to do. In this case the humans have turned into monsters. This short scene has so much to deduce that is going on in the world and in the background that you realize when you start playing the game and have some understanding of what the reality of war was like back then. The reaction of people in Whicher III feel believable the characters are a product of their environment, time, group, age at a particular moment in time. Even when you compare Yenefer to Triss despite looking young and beautiful Yenefer is much much older and behaves much wiser then Triss. The entire game is full of these details that make the world believable. You can even find insignificant letter of different people that make you better understand what the people are thinking about and going through, what do they fear, dream about and look forward to and everything makes seance within the logic, lore and particular events that unfold in a particular region the npc is from.

This is the kind of game you can get lost in. There is a lot to do and see. The map is huge, and there are plenty of different side quests and places to explore. The landscapes are beautiful, the music is amazing and the general ambience is very enjoyable. I loved wandering around in the forests with my horse hearing the wind in the trees, or in a city hearing the people talk, and hearing the themes of the different areas kick in. Both dlcs are great as well. In this game you end up playing a lot of hours over many days, and after a while the world of the game starts to feel real, and you miss it when you are not playing. PS: In regards to the tv show, I will say that in my opinion it is not good. It has some good aspects, at least in the first season some parts are salvageable. But overall it was disappointing, and it got worse over time. Personally I was expecting it to be at least reasonably good, because they had a lot of good material to work with. Also the main actor apparently loves the game, and I believe it was kind of a passion project for him. Sadly it didn't end up being what people hoped for. In my opinion the main problem was that the writers they picked were not that great. And maybe I am wrong about this, but I also suspect that both the showrunner and the writers don't necessarily love the original material to the same extent that the main actor does, which is a shame.

Remember that W3 is mainly side quests, which are often better than the main quests. In (my assessment) 80% of cases, you can return to the location of the task and see/eavesdrop on the NPC and find out what the consequences of your choices were. A small spoiler: even people who have played the game many times do not know that the continuation of Margaret's story can be heard from an NPC (one of the first side quests). I have 2000 hours in this game and I haven't discovered everything yet. Ps. don't watch the Netflix series, it's crap

"Wild Hunt" - these are those monstrous warriors in armor with spikes on their helmets, from which the cold blows. These are elf warriors with their conquered army from a parallel world. The name of the game, as it were, plays into the title and the description of the enemy and the event of the game, that is, the hunt for "Wild Hunt". As for witchers, they partially possess magic (they use simple spells, NOT runes, in addition, they use elixirs before battle, and most importantly, to become a witcher, a number of transformations were performed on them in childhood)

Ooof. Playing through Witcher 3 is way longer than Cyberpunk. But if you make sure to read up on in-game glossary whenever you're confused by terms used you should be fine and you'll be welcomed into one of the greatest stories in games. Also don't even watch the Netflix show. Unless you stop at season 1 because it's not tragic then just not as good it should even start to be. PS. I'm an oldhat Polish Witcher book reader and I'm concerned about Witcher 4 because what they are going for better have godly tier writing to justify Ciri getting mutations... Somehow... As an adult...

Also I’m sure they will have some level of good writing (fingers crossed) as Cyberpunks lore was very deep especially when u read the character shards and what not. I think they’ll have a good reason

Judge for yourself, but, after playing through TW3, the Netflix show will definitely not be amazing. Unless you mean amazing how they managed to f**ck it up so badly. Also, I’d recommend playing on Deathmarch difficulty from the get go. It’s not too hard and it’s the best way to experience being a Witcher.

Play Witcher 3 GOTY and enjoy one of the best games ever made. If you like books, they are also very good. But NEVER watch the Netflix show, it really disrespects the story, the lore and the characters.

Deam, you are really bad at listening. On the first one, in the first line of the trailer they said why they were hunging her. "For the murder of the wounded, looting and canibalism". Not a word about the witchcraft. DO NOT watch the netflix show. It is fucked up, castrated of it's content and sense. If you watch full experience, read the books. And than play the games, all 3, starting from the first one. All of them form a single story. If you want to jump start into the universe from W3, watch a trailer for W2, called "What is a Witcher". It nicely explain who they are and what they are about

@@TheOfficialV2 The show is meant to be the adaptation of books. First season more or less go with the oryginal story on Geralt plotline, but it ads Yennefer and Ciri plotlines out of nowhere, bending the logic and timeline. And to do it, it often cut content from Geralt story, making it less logical (Geralt know stuff out of nowhere cose scenes where he learn it are cut) Next seasons go further and further away from source material, shitting on logic, sense and most importantly characters.

@TheOfficialV2 if you've played the games or read the books then yes. It disregards a lot of important details and add stuff that doesn't make sense. If you have absolutely no knowledge about The Witcher as a whole you could probably watch it and it would be fine but it does devolve pretty fast into a cliche monster hunter story that's been told a thousand times. All in all the netflix show takes away a lot of depth to the characters and if you want a story that has amazing world building/ characters/lore just read the books or play the games

Cyberpunk was a really good game/story start to finish. V tragic story and the characters of night city were 10/10 for me. I’m still going to play through the Witcher and see what’s up, and I’m excited to see this “light” the fans have been talking about
