I believe that complement is introduced by a linking verb. complement tells us something about the nature of a subject or an object. E.g. He is a teacher. ( teacher is the subjective complement.) I made him a teacher. ( Here a teacher is the example of objective complement. )

Hellow A., in the minutes 9:33 ( fut. cont.) you say "in red is the form of verb "to be" and the ISN`T ( no es) the auxiliary verb which is helping the main verb", is because "be" is the base form? Or "will" is the aux.v. alone. or together "will be" are the aux. v. I am confuse. Please tell me who is correct, thank a lot...5.7.2017
@CrownAcademyEnglish7 жыл бұрын
Hello "I will be walking." The complete structure is the future continuous. It has 2 parts: 1)"will be" - This is the future simple form of the verb "to be" - Yes, this also has 2 parts: 1a) "will" - This is called a modal. and 1b) "be" - This is the base form of the verb "to be". 2) "walking" - This is the main verb. It is in the present participle form (ing form) Together we consider that "will be" is a combined auxiliary of the whole structure "I will be walking." I hope that answers your question. Andrew

does the word participle and tenses are the same meaning?
@CrownAcademyEnglish7 жыл бұрын
No not really. Tenses express the time of an action. (present, future, past). The form of each tense has many words. Participles are words that make up certain tenses. Participles are also used in other parts of the language.

Hi Teacher, Thanks for the Video first. my question isn't related with this Video, but if you have a chance please explain Please explain this. You are not to + Verb (in base form) is that meaning some thing like command to some one as don't do it ? ex:, You are not to blame him You are not to hit him. You are not to go. You are not to laugh loud. You are not to sit. You are not to take my pen. You are not to stay without coming. You are not to ask her to come.

The definition "to exist" is what's tripping me up. Isn't saying "I am a teacher" simply giving more information about the person? What does "to exist mean"? I feel like it is such a loose concept that my brain can't accept it :(
