The Year 2000 first year out of college. I was still a church girl so it was church on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. But it was like entering into real adulthood even though I was still living at home. I was going to work everyday bringing home a check every 2 weeks, paying off student loans. Going to the clubs every Thursday night & ending the night at Hooters or Tempo, being able to buy stuff at the mall every Saturday instead of window shopping like I did in highschool. It was all good times.

To answer your question Tony, it’s clearly not a red flag if we “ignore it” it’s more like it’s something we can deal with. As women we find ourselves in a constant state of discomfort whether dealing with what’s going on in our minds, bodies, or day-to-day. So what’s a little more discomfort to have a relationship where things aren’t all above the line?

Oh, 1st off, accountability is for everybody. In 2000, I was 19. I worked at the gap part time, had community college courses & worked at a telemarketing company. Dumped a guy who claimed to be 23, turned out to be 27 with kids & three chicks who thought they was his only girl. Tony, 😅yes there are people who don’t have sex for a long time and I can say folks like that dude are who prompt the lifestyle. I’m not giving you my life story but I am saying at 43 I’m light years from who I was as a teenager. The only reason I ever invested a second in dating was because I listened to my friends who were just as young and clueless as I was. I personally don’t share my body with nobody I can’t trust with my life. What I’m sick of is a guy treating that like we’re “saving ourselves for the right one”, no more like I’m not letting anyone close to me who shouldn’t be that close. At some point it really is that a person is an adult who can make decisions for themselves. On the subject of men and women, a lot of what happens is led by the guy or socially it’s expected and we’re supposed to submit, right? Then the thing about not swearing 😅in front of parents who shitdamnmuthafucka’ed because our grandparents and greats shitdamnmuthafucka’ed WHILE being saved & saintified Gottdamnit! On one side 🙄😅I won’t say which one (& in my case, there’s 3 sides. Don’t ask, you don’t know me like dat 🤪😅😅😅😅) they act super sididdy but been since been spoke “colorful” language regardless of who was around or what age we were. The sididdy ones are the only ones acting like it’s brand new while fronting in front of folks that aren’t family. Plenty times I’ve heard “you sound like yo aunty girl!” & it’s real hilarious when my mama says I sound like HER mama. No it’s not all the time, come on now. What’s funny is they’d say “when your grown you can say grown up words” then cut to middle age. They afraid to check they grand kids but worried about somebody forty something? Come now. 😅 & was getting well cursed out when we was kids. I always stress that nobody lived with me to know my family dynamics just like I wasn’t around to call anyone here’s dynamics. The folks I’d have in that box Tony was talking about, they been gone a very long time & they know that walk. I am one of the kids that watched and kept personal stock and just continued doing so throughout my life. If you can control your pee, you can control your hormones. If whomever I find attractive can’t balance that easily, I’d say that’s the friend zone box. If you’re not friends and have a connection that meshes you into best friends eventually leading into Love, that’s not something I’d have interest in. Preservation is everything to everyone whether they realize or not. I can’t have anyone around me who is driven to run me into the ground than to lift me up. I’ve seen more than enough in life to be hard up. Folks got to like each other at the base of it all. I know what importance looks and feels like and no it is not all because my parents told me the answer. A lot of what they taught was indirect. I’m only bits and pieces of them here & there, the rest is folks I probably never laid my eyes on. Not to mention, the way this country is set up lawfully regarding human bodies, that’s definitely not giving my lower set of lips no reason to be moist right now. For real. No lift up no skirt in war. 👈🏽Damian Marley said that one.

We need to let go of the taboo of “cuss” words. They are also words meant to be used and you can’t get on people about allowing people to express themselves and then stop at using cuss words in front of parents. As long as you’re not cussing ‘at’ them, it shouldn’t be a problem. Statistically, the most intelligent people cuss a lot in their regular flow of communication. Mad cussing is one thing but using the wide array of words available shouldn’t come with exclusions.
