Your point about filming in public to the security guards is highly pertinent and highly relevant regarding CCTV - my biggest fear here in the U.K. is that Parliament, perhaps as part of the new U.K. online safety laws, will seek to ban all public filming in and around all public spaces/buildings by all private citizens for all private purposes and I suspect that the security industry will push for such a blanket ban, enforced by police, even post Brexit and regardless of GDPR - if such a law does get passed, it must be challenged in the courts - facial recognition CCTV cameras could very well be a breach of GDPR and this point has not been challenged in the courts, as is the issue of CCTV cameras generally
