We all know it was Obelix and Asterix that united the Gaul, fought and annihilated the Romans.
@lordMartiya4 ай бұрын
They didn't unite anything, they worked for chief Vitalstatistix. A veteran of Alesia who knew well what Caesar could do if angered (he had already committed one genocide against a Belgian tribe, and Vitalstatistix barely stopped him from doing it to another that had been stupid enough to piss him off). And the Golden Book reveals Octavian won.

@@TheKML777 In "The Golden Book" the village's palisade was run down and Petibonum served as a commercial center. Whatever stunt Octavian pulled, the Gauls SURRENDERED. And considering Caesar's men came THIS close no less than five times (in "The Roman Agent" Torturous Convolvulus almost cost them the Magic Potion, in "The Mansion of the Gods" he attempted the classic "show them the benefits of being Roman" that had tamed and turned into Romans all of Italy and much of Gaul already, in "Obelix and Co." it was economics that almost got the Gauls, in "The Secret Weapon" had the female legionaires arrived at ANY other time they would have conquered the place without fighting, and in "The White Iris" a proto-Stoic philosopher defangs the Gauls), it would be easy for the far more cunning Octavian to triumph, especially as his ascension to the Imperial throne was marked by him taking note of what exactly caused Caesar's assassination and learning from his adopted father's errors.

Napoleon III erected a 7-metre-tall (23 ft) Vecingetorix monument in 1865, created by the sculptor Aime Millet, on the supposed site of Alesia. The architect for the memorial was Eugene Viollet-le-Duc. Many other monumental statues of Vercingetorix were erected in France during the 19th century, including one by Frederic Bartholdi on the Place de Jaude in Clermont-Ferrand. Asteroid 52963 Vercingtorix, diacovered by the OCA-DLR Asteroid Survey, was named in his honor.

Celtae and Keltoi are Roman and Greek words respectively and most likely not what they called themselves. They were a group of tribes who were in some cases Loosely and some others closely affiliated through language and culture, this was referred to as Celtic by Greek and Roman scholars. Unfortunately, the group known as the Celts did not have a written tradition or history so we cannot be 100% sure of this
