I Always asking myself,how can someone write such a masterpiece as Verdi did. What was in his head,soul,mind...? His operas are All Great,but Requiem is something that I cannot express by any words. When I was a baby,my father was holding me in his arms,and he hummed Agnus Dei to me until I fell asleep. Thank You dad. For All your love .

Abbado was one of the all time great interpreters of Verdi, and I am very glad that he used Shirley Verrett in this work. She is my favorite singer to listen to in the soprano solo. Hearing also the criminally underrated Nesterenko is the icing on the cake.

Nicht in Verdi.Nach Siepi und Ghiaurov ist er gar nicht.Enge,künstlich klingende obere Noten sind dabei ganz ausgeprägt.

Yes, especially on this La Scala Tour, with 9 concerts, sometimes 3 nights one after the other... And duetting with a central voice like Valentini-Terrani shows more each one specificities.

Yes, it's not him of course. It was a tour of La Scala with 3 or 4 casts. Verrett replaced Freni in all the dates. This photo is the duomo in Milan.
