@@justbystander770 Also, the mom stated on the stand that her daughter was suicidal, which might have helped some of the jurors; probably they are going to retrial him with a firearm expert. The medical examiner did come off, as you mentioned above, and I got that too. Because the defense attorney talked about himself more than the client, personally I thought DA did a better job and he didn’t even interact with the other female in any type of way at the table .

I absolutely disagree, the prosecution simply didn't prove their case. It was an awful investigation by the police and reckless for the DA to accept the case prematurely. That doesn't mean he isn't guilty it means they failed to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt. The lead detective lacked the experience to properly investigate a complicated case. What bothers me is the fact that he did not call police, after the shot was fired. That his phone was turned off. That he took the gun.. that he took her car.. then acted as if he knew nothing at all. Called jayla.. called Tori’s mom .. said everything but that she was dead in a park with a gun shot wound to her head but was supposedly her best friend. If she was suicidal as her best friend why didn’t he reach out to people for support to help her? Why not have thrown the gun in the water to prevent her from shooting herself in the first place? How did her car end up being burned where he took it? All he could talk about was during his interrogation was a son that wasn’t even his. He did not seem to have any emotions during that interview as well. How many teenage girls do not have suicidal thoughts ??!!

Mistrial does not mean Not Guilty. With a Not Guilty verdict, defendant is free to go and can never be retried. With a Mistrial, the prosecution has a choice to come back and retrial the defendant on those counts that a mistrial was declared. So he is not out of the woods yet.

P.S. Having to think about this case overnight, I still agree with the partial verdicts - and the medical examiner's testimony (to me) sealed the "reasonable doubt." I think he assisted in her suicide; I don't think they were smart enough to find how to shoot, so the bullet would go from one end of her temple to the other - we know it was close range according to the medical examiner - so, I surmise he had to stand next to her and point the gun at her temple and fire the gun for the bullet to come out the opposite side. If he shot her in a way she couldn't do it, only by his hands, we would have a different verdict. This is sad on all levels; however, I think they talked about what to do afterward - and he freaked out and did the opposite, which was baffling to one. I also think she "wore" him down about assisting her; assisting folks we love with suicide happens, it is nothing we haven't heard about. It was clear she was suicidal and her family knew this - she repeatedly said she didn't want to be here - he didn't steal the gun from Tori's house, she did. If not her best friend, she was looking for someone to do it - his actions after the shooting make one think he shot her, but if he shot her, I think he would have aimed the gun blindly and shot her. I think he assisted his best friend who sadly was in a lot of "pain" -I think if he had told the truth to Tori's parents, and not wait eight months later, especially talking with them and seeing them suffer (staying at the scene, leave the gun at the scene for the police). But hindsight is 20/20 and they were young and in this case, there is no do-over; we can't bring her back, but we can celebrate all her achievements in her short life -different levels of mental illness is a "beast." I was listening to see if she had a diary or left a note. If there is another trial, we will see how those jurors rule. This is my opinion & condolences to the family❤🙏❤️

It's hard to send someone to prison for murder when her cause of death wasn't determined to be murder. They have to be found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Lord, Have Mercy for the "Beautiful Angel" guess who? nobody is above and powerful than "The Highest Power"! No, Jury and No, Judge and he will pay. How you stole a gun, money, and conceal a body but did not kill 🤔 bull sh..! He did it! but the Jury will see her in their "sleep"! Rest In Power Angel 😇

The court failed Tori Lang's family. I am speechless and this is heartbreaking. The fact that the family is going to have to go through all of this all over again is asinine. The police and the coroner chose to do sloppy an lousy work on purpose. Of Tori Lang was a white girl that fool would have been found guilty on all counts. And that is all there is to it.

Since the jury had doubt and couldn't agree this is how it should be in the court of law in America. I bet the defense lawyer is relieved that his client will get another chance if they retry the charges.👍

I think jury did best they could. Some doubt if felony murder so not willing to vote guilty. Need to retry, maybe for murder not felony murder and try a better case

I am disgusted and so disappointed in the US Judicial System. This is a prime example of why we must uplift and protect BLACK WOMEN! Shame on this jury and this Guilty, Cowardly Defendant!

This is what happens when you allow a loud personality of a defense attorney sway your common sense. Along with not looking at the evidence and facts as he said so many times to his advantage during this trial. And people wonder how so many people get manipulated daily!!

What dose this mean hung jury counts 1-5? Dose it mean a retrial on those counts which I don't think is possible. With what he was found guilty of proably serve 5 years or less. I think what got jury to no be able to reach unanimous verdict is. The medical examer ruled death undetermined and it was possible it could be a self inflicted gun shot wound. So I'm not sure if I could vote guilty beyond reasonable doubt
