Lyndi, while in the "departement de la Meuse", you should also visit Bar-Le-Duc, a very nice little city with lots of beautiful 16th century buildings in the "ville haute".

If you once visit Verdun, don't miss the site of the battle of Vauquois, 30 km west of the city. Make a research on Google and make sure not too miss it. Breathtaking. I spent one year in Verdun for my mandatory military period in 1983.

Sympa, je n'y suis jamais allé bien que ce soit pas si loin de chez moi (2h30 en voiture), faut que je me trouve un weekend pour y faire un tour.

Un conseil, allez-y par beau temps. Verdun en hiver ,un jour de pluie, je ne connais rien de plus déprimant, même 108 ans plus tard.

Very surprised you had the curiosity to visit Verdun. I mean, I thought this would drive mainly French or German visitors. And it's not a "nice" place from a touristic point of view, as it is charged with a lot of historic and emotional factor. Glad you show this to an American audience.

Pas gai gai 😞 Cependant j'ai visité Verdun il y a un certain temps et ai été étonnée de la joliesse de la ville et de son petit port fluvial.

L'implication des USA a été minime en termes de moyens humains et matériels mais elle a fait comprendre aux politiques allemands que la partie était perdue avec l'entrée des USA dans le conflit. Les militaires allemands voulaient poursuivre les combats pensant finir par gagner contre l'armée française et l'armée anglaise qui combattait à nos cotés.
